"Carfax Certified" low mile Buick Riviera! 35,000 original miles! This is a great example of a true luxury car with the bulletproof 3.8 motor, a Riviera enthusiast's dream! With the low miles and sitting a lot comes some minor needed maintenance. The car has a minor valve cover gasket oil leak and the AC needs a recharge. A complete tune up wouldn't hurt. Vehicle Description Hello and thank you for looking at my auction. My name is Joe and I sell vehicles differently than most dealers. I personally road test each vehicle before it is offered for sale so I can give you my first hand opinion of how it runs and drives. Please keep in mind that... I am not a mechanic. Each vehicle is represented accurately and honestly to the best of my knowledge and ability. Please take the time to check out each of the 70+ photos and read this entire written description, as well as our Terms & Conditions, carefully BEFORE asking questions or placing a bid as most answers can be found in at least one of those places. An administrative fee of $149 will be added to the final bid of each auction. Up for a NO RESERVE auction is a 1997 Buick Riviera. I would rate the exterior of this full sized coupe to be in AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage. As you can see, this is a good looking coupe. It is finished in Light Blue over Blue leather interior. The finish shines nicely for an older vehicle and looks smooth all around. As you can see, there is a dent along the RR quarter panel. Aside from that, you'd be hard pressed to find much else worth complaining about as you walk around the exterior of this Buick. The body lines are nice and straight. The hood, doors, and trunk all open and close easily. All of the glass and lenses are intact. The alloy wheels show well and are wrapped in nice rubber with average tread all around. Please take your time and check out each of the photos carefully. I would rate the interior of this Riviera to be in BELOW AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage. The door cards are clean and tight. The dash and headliner are clean. The carpets also show well for their age. As you can see in the photos, both front seat cushions are worn. Despite this, the leather seats are comfortable throughout the interior. You can also see that the seat controls are just kind of hanging there, but still work. However, I cannot get the driver's seat to slide back farther than you see it in the photos. I am 6' tall and managed to shoehorn myself in to road test it, but it wasn't the most comfortable adventure I've ever been on. If you're as tall as me, or a larger person (I'm fairly slim), this may present a problem. The power windows, locks, mirrors, and sunroof all work properly. The audio sytem is original and sounds good through the factory speakers. There are steering wheel audio controls, too. The climate control system is fully automatic and offers independent temperautre settings for both the driver and passenger. The heater works well but the air conditioner will need charged or serviced as it does not blow cold air. Additionally, you can see in the photos that the ash tray just kind of hangs there. The trunk is spacious and clean. Again, please...please look at each of the photos carefully. Mechanically, this Riviera appears to be in good running and driving condition. The supercharged 3.8L V6 starts easily and runs smoothly. Aside from a typical valve cover leak that I can smell, I didn't notice any other leaks and the engine does not smoke. Her road manners are good for an older car. The suspension feels tight and well sorted. Steering and braking feel good. The engine keeps perfect temperature and feels strong. The ABS/Traction light is on. When taking photos of the engine, I noticed that the belt to the supercharger is not present. I've seen people remove this in search of better fuel economy. It is also possible that the bearings in the supercharger are getting noisy. The car actually runs and drives fine without the supercharger, so you can do (or not do) whatever you want about that. The automatic transmission engages smoothly and shifts properly with zero issues. Out on the highway, she drives nice and straight with absolutely no complaints. This Riviera is a little rougher than I would normally buy...but I bought it because you simply don't see these cars anymore. Most of the ones I see either have a crap load of miles and are completely destroyed or are perfect and are priced up in the stratosphere. This is a perfect example of a middle of the road car. Her bones are good...so you can make it as perfect as you want, or just drive her the way she is. Either way, you're in it right and you can have it be anything you want...which is what I like.
