MECHANIC SPECIAL 2003 INFINITY FX45 AWD V8 STARTS,RUNS,DRIVES ONLY 117,XXX MILES CLEAN CLEAR TITLE NO ACCIDENTS THE VEHICLE SAT FOR ALMOST 4 YEARS DUE TO THE OWNERS ILLNESSI WAS TOLD THE FUEL PUMP WENT FROM SITTING WHEN I PURCHASED IT. I REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP STARTED THE VEHICLE AND IT HAS AN ENGINE TICK, IT SOUNDS TO ME LIKE COLLAPSED LIFTER OR DROPPED GUIDE? VALVE ? TOP END ISSUE. I HAVE POSTED A VIDEO OF IT RUNNING IT'S LOUD BUT REMEMBER ITS A V8 TOO NOT A 4CYL. THE OIL HAS NO METAL IN IT. IT SOUNDS TO ME LIKE ITS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 117K MILES ON IT AND WE HAVE OWNED 2 OF THESE WITH OVER 250K THEY ARE WELL BUILT MACHINES SO I'M SURPRISED THAT ITS HAVING AN ISSUE . I REALIZE THAT FROM SITTING FOR THE AMOUNT OF TIME IT DID ALL THE OIL WOULD HAVE DRAINED TO THE PAN. I HAVEN'T RAN IT MORE THAN 5 MINUTES A FEW TIMES AND DID NOT ACCELERATE AS I DON'T WANT TO CAUSE ANY MORE DAMAGE AND BEND A VALVE ETC. IT COULD POSSIBLY COME OUT OF IT IF YOU WANT TO DRAIN THE OIL, FLUSH IT WITH AN ADDITIVE TO CLEAR OUT THE PASSAGES AND LET IT RUN AT IDLE, REPEAT, THEY HAVE HYDRAULIC LIFTERS AND COULD POSSIBLY FREE UP. I DID A TIMING CHAIN ON AN AUDI ONCE THAT HAD NO ISSUES AND I REMEMBER IT TOOK 30 MINUTES BEFORE IT STOPPED TICKING ON RESTART BUT IT WAS A SMALLER ENGINE AND NOT THIS LOUD. HOWEVER WITH THIS SITTING AND ME NOT KNOWING THE FULL HISTORY I DO NOT WANT TO TAKE THE CHANCE OF DAMAGING IT FURTHER AND WE JUST MOVED HERE, ARE HUNTING FOR A HOUSE SO I DON'T HAVE A PLACE TO WORK ON IT. I WOULD CRACK OPEN THE TOP AND SEE WHATS GOING ON. I BOUGHT FOR MY WIFE AND HAVE ALREADY REPLACED IT WITH SOMETHING ELSE. WITH THAT BEING SAID THE SUV IS STILL QUITE VALUABLE THEY RANGE FROM 6 TO 13K DEPENDING ON THE MILEAGE AND OPTIONS. THIS IS THE V8 300+ HP FX NOT THE 35 LIKE THE REST ON HERE AND THEY ARE A BLAST TO DRIVE. EVERYTHING IN IT WORKS, ALL POWER SEATS, WINDOWS, ROOF, MIRRORS, THIS IS REALLY VERY LOW MILEAGE FOR THESE. SO SOMEONE HERE CAN GET ALOT OF VALUE WITH PROBABLY A SIMPLE REPAIR IF THEY HAVE THE KNOW HOW. IF COULD USE A GOOD SCRUB AS YOU CAN SEE BUT THE INTERIOR IS IN PRETTY GOOD SHAPE I DON'T SEE ANYTHING THAT WONT CLEAN UP. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTION PLEASE DO NO HESITATE TO ASK.
