Whistle-Clean 1999 Mercedes-Benz SLK230 Kompressor 5-speed manual Hardtop Convertible with “Sport” Package in Magma Red and Charcoal Leather. The car is powered by a Supercharged 2.3L DOHC 4-cylinder engine and (rare) 5-speed manual transmission. The car rides on its original 17” AMG alloy wheels that have been recently fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport ZR tires. Power steering, power windows, central locking system, alarm, heated seats, traction control, fog lamps, parking lamps, chrome exhaust tip, “Sport” aerodynamic styling, air conditioning and Bose sound with 6-CD changer are present and in excellent working order, as is the entire convertible top system. I purchased the car as a STARMARK Mercedes-Benz certified pre-owned vehicle in 2002. Always under cover, this Low Mileage automobile is absolutely one of the Very Cleanest and Best-Preserved SLK's of this vintage. The Maryland title is clean. The Maryland state inspection certificate is dated 4/17/19 at 51,226 miles. Copies sent on request. Owner's manuals and remote-lock key fob are in excellent condition. All sheetmetal, grille, and bumpers are original. The original paint shines to a bright, creamy luster. No door dings! Clean CarFax report, I will send it to you on request. The car has undergone several restoration projects. First up was a 2014 refinishing of the factory-installed AMG alloy wheels to maintain the original dual-finish scheme. In 2015, I commissioned a replacement of the notoriously-unworthy factory finish on the console and dash plastic surfaces. In 2016 the top hydraulics were replaced, and a new Mercedes-Benz headliner was installed. A new Mercedes-Benz supercharger clutch and a new central pneumatic pump/control module were installed. All functions are in excellent working condition. A few things that I'll note: The driver's door window goes up 1/2” too high. You can remove the interior door panel, find the clip at the bottom of the door and glue it back on. For now, I marked the glass with a tiny black line to tell me when it's just right. The flat cockpit-style faceplate around the gauges contains a small crack at the bottom, to the left of the steering wheel. No big deal, but it's not perfect. The Michelin 225-45ZR17 and 245-40ZR17's were installed brand-new at 49400 miles. They have less than 2000 miles on them. The battery is 2 years old. The Rain-X windshield wipers are brand-spanking new. Bumper-to-bumper, in-and-out, this car presents quite like new. It's distinctive “Magma Red” exterior beams a vibrant, fiery signature which never fails to generate friendly compliments from neighbors and passers-by. The Charcoal leather is in fine condition. The new headliner is perfect. The clear plastic gauge covers are crystalline. Carpets are clean and un-worn.The original jack, air compressor, tools and spare are in the trunk. The drive is spirited, but also Mercedes civilized- tight and quiet with the top up, and never jarring over bumps. Top-down wind intrusion is well-controlled. The power band is wide and steady- through the gears the supercharger producing just enough “song” at throttle to assure the driver of its presence. I have lots more close-up photos.
