Up for sale is a clean original 2 owner 1990 Mercury Cougar XR7 5 speed supercharged coupe. These cars are getting quite rare in this condition with the manual transmission and relatively low mileage at 71,750. The body and paint are in good condition, has some scratches and dings typical with a 28 year old car but very little to no rust. Interior is in good condition, including the seats and carpets. The car has all the power options, drivers side power seat operates, but moves slowly. The car runs and drives well with good power, clutch and brakes both work well. Tlc needed but not limited to due to the age of this vehicle: Odometer very recently started working intermittently and now is not working at all (miles are not increasing) was told it is a typical problem with old fords and requires a small plastic gear in the instrument cluster to be replaced. Tires have alot of tread but are dry cracking. Radiator cooling fan not kicking on, might be a relay or fuse have not investigated. Worn rubber bushings on rear axle mount occasionally cause a clunk between shifts. Some trim and moldings around the body are showing their age. Again this is a running and driving car.

HiMy cougar has rust but runs awesome. Needs power steering lines and has some electrical issues. New brakes and nice interior. New tires and batteryNeeds one power steering line to be road worthy.I love this car but the rust is not getting any better. Brake lines have been changed to non rust lines.Leak in one pwer steering line now but can run and go short distance. I will be replacing if not sold.I bought the car in 98 with 28,000 miles..The odometer was broken a few years ago at about 74000..I estimate miles to be around 84,000 which is on the very low side.I have always had a work truck while owning a car, a motorcycle and personal truck. My 2006 truck I bought brand new has just turned 59,000 so I know the mileage is low on the cougar. No rust on floor boards. all body good except near the corner rocker panels in front of tires. I think the water comes in from the rear window top trim.No inspection required on car.That's all I can offer.Car has to be towed so not to ruin power steering system.Car was always insured and on the road until power steering line leak during summer. The car has not been driven much since 2016 when the original owner passed away. Tires have alot of tread but should be replaced due to age. Radiator cooling fan not turning on, the car has NOT been overheated and is still easily drivable, I don't allow it to idle stationary and it's never a problem if the car is moving. Worn rubber bushings on rear differential mount occasionally cause a clunk between shifts. Some trim and moldings around the body are showing their age. Again this is a good running and driving car.
