Very rare Volvo with body by Bertone of Italy. This is a very unique car with extremely prooven and rugged mechanical architecture. I am selling this car on behalf of a good client who used this as a commuter car for many years but has not been driving it enough lately to justify keeping it. We have just installed new brakes on all 4 corners at our shop RPM in Vermont but it will need some other servicing prior to extended use. Everything works on the car except the A/C but it should have a timing belt replacement in the near future. That said, I'd drive it cross country but the last time the belt was done was in 2005 at 158,000 miles. The car has many age related flaws like surface rust on the undercarriage, stone chips, dents and a small bulls-eye on the windshield. The interior is really amazingly well preserved. I've got many more detailed photos and can be contacted with a simple search of RPM in Vergennes, VT. I can assist in arranging transport anywhere in the world as I have many contacts in the domestic and foreign shipping field. Thank you for looking, please feel free to ask any questions. This car is for sale on a clean Vermont Registration. Vermont does not issue titles on cars older than 15 years similar to other states. The Vermont Registration is a transferable document, I have sold cars to nearly all states on a VT. Reg. card and even exported cars on a registration card. Please contact me if you have any questions.

RARE 1990 VOLVO 78) BERTONE COUPE - limited production Bertone was made in Italy by famed designer Bertone. This car was a dependable high mileage daily driver until about 5 years ago when it got parked due to a fuel issue. I dont think fuel is getting pumped out of the tank - might just be a problem with the fuel lines or might need new fuel pumps - but it got parked and has just sat ever since. Just tested it and it starts and runs momentarily on starting fluid. Interior is in decent shape - some wear and some split seams in upholstery but very usable. Paint is rough - clearcoat peeled away/mostly gone on hood roof and trunk. Pass side has some body damage to fender and door- not too bad - looks like it got too close to a parking bollard - it was there before I bought the car 10+ years ago. Original radio/audio system is no longer there - has a vintage alpine tape deck installed - speakers are all junk I'm sure. Expect all the problems with electrical contacts, etc that are likely for a car that has been sitting for 5 years. Engine has approx. 300K on it. Has the original multi-x wheels with curb rash. This is not a car you can come and drive home - it is a project car with potential, but it is a RARE 780 Turbo Bertone with potential ! Collection of various spare parts included. Note - the original 15x7 multi-x wheels and chrome center caps are included as pictured! They have the expected curb rash for used wheels of this vintage. These wheels were only fitted to the 780 Turbos and are quite desireable among Volvo enthusiasts, typically selling for well over $100 per wheel. Also the front lower valance is intact and in good shape. This part is frequently missing/damaged and quite desireable among Volvo 78 enthusiasts! I'll be making the trip to the East Coast in mid April and can tow it on a car transport trailer to anywhere east of the Mississippi for $1 mile from St. Louis(prepaid). HISTORY OF THE VOLVO 780 BERTONE COUPE In March 1985 Volvo debuted the 700-series-based coupe at the Geneva Motor Show, the latest collaboration betweenVolvo and the legendary Italian carrozzeria.Designed to combine Italian elegance and Swedish engineering, the 780 premiered on the heels of two other Bertone collaborations: the 262C coupe and the 264TE limousine. Unlike the 262C, the 780 was a blank sheet design -- despite looking like a four-door 740 sedan, every body panel on the 780 is in fact different. Of the major components, only the chassis and the powertrain carried over from the 700 series. It was Nuccio Bertone who was tasked with designing an Italian suit for the somewhat uptight Swedish sedan with American proportions. And just like the 700-series sedan and wagon, the 780 coupe was aimed at the American market. Bertone was responsible for the assembly of all the cars, so completed rolling chassis would be shipped from Gothenburg to Italy for the assembly. As the 780 was meant to be a halo car for the range, it received a luxurious interior complete with hardwood accents, while just about every moving component from the seats to the sunroof was powereed."With the 780, we can offer an elegant car that is ideal for long journeys, incorporating a personal design, exclusive component solutions and a unique range of engines with the emphasis on comfort," said Volvo Car Corporation's Marketing Director Carleric Häggström about the 780 at the time. The 780 was offered with a total of four different engines in all markets, though North America was denied some of the powerplants. The 150-hp 2.8-liter V6 was the top offering at first, though Volvo also sold the 780 with gas inline-fours in 2.0-liter and 2.3-liter form, and also offered a Volkswagen turbodiesel engine, a 2.4-liter inline-six. There would be a few small changes through the years, as Volvo replaced the rigid rear axle with a multi-link rear suspension for the 1988 model year and kept squeezing more power out of the turbocharged 2.3-liter inline-four.In total, 8,518 cars would roll off the line between 1985 and 1990, with the U.S. receiving a large chunk of the total production.

PLEASE feel free to ask any questions about the car. Additional pictures are available. Appointments are required for viewing and test drives. -The radio is not installed as it is a TD series with a bad LCD, bad receptions, and non functional tape deck. The power antenna works. I have a CD814 on the way to hopefully fill the hole.-The passenger seat recline does not work - the plastic gears in the adjusters are stripped and one of the cables is broken. The drivers side is moves exactly as it should.-Neither of the seat heaters work... I am working with Volvo on this as it was a recall at one point - although Volvo has no obligation to resolve the open recalls at this time. The additional open recall is for a fuel tank seal.-ACC works almost perfectly, however the vacuum diaphragm behind the HVAC box obviously leaks as you can hear it... Air flow does change direction and temperature correctly. The A/C has at one point been retrofitted to R134a. I has been recently charged. It lost a full charge over the course of 6 years.-The battery works but is hopelessly old-The tires are decent, but again hopelessly old-The suspension and steering looks almost entirely original... There are a few clunks and the left rear Novimat is toast attributing to a 20 degree off center steering wheel. The PS pump or rack is likely in need of repair as until you go lock to lock power assist is sporadic. She'll cruise at 80mph without making you scared.-The brakes are of unknown age with sufficient pad life left.-One of the wires from the ballast resistor to harness connector has a short - which would be most easily resolved by replacing the 30 year old part-The dome/map light is missing as the sunroof had PREVIOUSLY leaked into it and shorted it out.-The sunroof frame and seals have attempted to have been repaired. The car has sat outside over this last winter and there is no new evidence of leaks. The sunSHADE is missing the front two spring clips.-The trunk support shocks are shot *The engine is from a 1994 940 turbo with 125k miles. Upon install, with the exception of the head gasket, most all seals and gaskets have been replaced. *The engine and trans mounts are new*The radiator is new as is the water pump*The primary and intank fuel pumps are new*The shift linkage bushings are new*The alternator is a high output new unit Please feel free to ask any other questions. I am presently working to resolve the open recalls as noted on the AutoCheck report. Thank you!
