1998 Volvo s70. Use it as a driver, spare car, or great parts source Here is the story. I was given this Volvo because I needed a car. It was a friends spare car, and runs fine. Turns out my car was easily fixed, so they said to just sell this one. It does have high miles, over 450k. We do not know the history before 2012, but the way it runs and looks, we think it must have had an engine and maybe even interior work done at some point. It just doesn't look or act like a 450k mile car. It runs fine, daily driven. Motor has power, no smoke. Transmission shifts fine. The tires are about half life. The body is very straight and rust free. Interior is very good for age, dash isnt cracked, and has wood trim. Issues I have seen...The drivers seat leather has come apart at the seam on the aide. The door lock activator button on the driver's door doesnt work. There is a flashing up arrow, which I am told si ce the tranny is shifting fine, means it is stuck in winter mode. Use it for a driver, use it for a good supply of parts, whatever you need to do, I just dont need it.

I personally road test each vehicle before it is offered for sale so I can give you my first hand opinion of how it runs and drives. Please keep in mind that... I am not a mechanic. Each vehicle is represented accurately and honestly to the best of my knowledge and ability. An administrative fee of $149 will be added to the final bid of each auction. Up for a NO RESERVE auction is a very rare 1998 Volvo S70 manual with just 143k original miles. I would rate the exterior of this Volvo to be in AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage. As you can see, this is a good looking sedan. It is finished in Emerald Green over Beige leather interior, which is a good color combination. The dark green finish does show some age in a few spots but shines nicely and looks smooth all around. As with any older vehicle, please expect a few flaws and imperfections commensurate with age and mileage. The body lines are nice and straight. The hood, doors and trunk all open and close easily. All of the trim and moldings are present and show well. All of the glass and lenses are intact. The factory wheel covers look good and this S70 is wearing a matching set of Hancook's with deep tread all around. Please take your time and check out each of the photos carefully. I would also rate the interior of this Volvo to be in ABOVE AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage. The door cards are clean and tight. The dash and headliner are clean. The headliner sags in the middle but is all there. The carpets are clean and full looking throughout the interior. A full set of factory carpet floor mats and a full set of rubber all weather floor mats are included. Both front seats are heated. The leather seats are clean, comfortable and show minimal wear for their age. The LR window does not work. The driver's window slows up and stops about halfway down. The power locks and mirrors work normally. The audio system is original and sounds good through the factory speakers. The climate control system is fully automatic and offers independent temperature settings for both the driver and passenger. The heater works well but I believe the air conditioner will need charged or serviced to cool properly. It is still a bit too cold to get a great read on it, but I believe it is lacking a bit. This Volvo comes with its original books and manuals as well as the original $30,000 window sticker. The trunk is spacious and clean. Again, please take your time and check out each of the photos carefully to see how clean this Volvo came in. Mechanically, this Volvo appears to be in good running and driving condition. The 2.4L engine starts easily and runs smoothly. I didn't notice any leaks and the engine does not smoke. Her road manners are good for an older vehicle. The suspension feels tight and well sorted. Steering and braking feel good, too. The engine keeps perfect temperature and feels strong. The check engine light is on. The code is for a "small" evap leak. The airbag and ABS lights are also on. The engine makes good power and feels smooth. You may need to replace the top engine mount, which is a common thing and not hard to do. What makes this S70 special is that it has the rare and desirable five speed manual transmission. The clutch engages smoothly and does not slip or chatter. Gear changes through the manual transmission are clean and precise, as they should be. Out on the highway, she drives nice and straight with absolutely no complaints. If you are looking for a sedan to put a ton of miles on, this is the one to get. The 1998 model year was the first year of the S70 but the last year before they went to variable cam timing and the electronic throttle module, both of which are sources of problems as these cars age. With this specific S70, you also take the automatic transmission out of the equation...which makes this car virtually indestructible. All you have to do is keep up on periodic services and this car should go indefinitely...and get nearly 30mpg highway...in complete comfort...and surrounded by Volvo's legendary safety features. 1998 Volvo S70 T5 Sedan - 1 Owner, Dealer Maintained, Loaded with Moonroof True Auction – NO RESERVE - Good Condition, All Service Records, Leather VIN# YV1LS5374W2490947 PLEASE READ CAREFULLY: You are considering a single owner, well maintained (documented maintenance records included and listed below), well broken in, automatic, used 1998 VOLVO S70 T5 with 105,899 miles. This Luxury Sedan is well worn inside and outside (please see pictures). This has mostly been a daily, 10-mile commuter of my father-in-law for 15+ years. The OUTSIDE condition is good: paint generally ok, however faded areas, with several imperfections and minor cosmetic damage on the passenger-side rear quarter panel (see pictures). I would rate the overall outside condition 6 out of 10. The INTERIOR also shows its age and wear with some fading, cracked leather (mostly driver’s seat), plastic and a few minor, loose cosmetic fit & finish items (see pictures). I would rate the overall inside condition 6 out of 10. The MECHANICAL condition AS OF August 2018 was sound, operating without any known problems or mechanical items in need of repair passing North Carolina State inspection on August 26, 2018. Since that time is was driven minimally after the passing of my father-in-law, by his wife, mostly sitting unused in the garage. AS OF February 2019, my wife and I assumed ownership and have decided to sell the vehicle. Under our ownership we did not register or insure the vehicle, so it has not been driven on the road. I do keep the Volvo on a trickle charger, starting it weekly and driving it around the neighborhood to keep her operating. At one time we considered keeping it, however have decided to part with it, hence the extended period for not registering it. During my last drive, this weekend, the vehicle started flawlessly, and drove without trouble. As stated, my father-in-law was the original owner using the Volvo as a daily driver.
