1996 BMW Z3 ROADSTER CONVERTIBLE 152,000 miles on a newer engine. Original BMW (007) Blue with Tan interior. Automatic transmission. Runs and drives great on/off freeway. Great gas mileage too. Power windows, brakes (ABS), locks, steering, mirrors, and Alarm. Refurbished Factory stereo with BMW 6 CD changer in the trunk. Lots of parts have been upgraded/replaced over the years (see list below), Black Convertible top is worn, but in good condition but I have not used it in a few years since I installed the Hardtop. Seats were re-upholstered a few years ago, battery replaced a few years ago, as well as brakes. Seat heaters (lights come on but not working - not sure if its a relay), air bags. Heater works well.The mini onboard computer works well. Comes with the original cassette tray in the armrest. Factory wheels are in great shape. Car has higher miles overall, but engine was replaced about 6 years ago. I only drive this car locally but have made many trips to San Diego and once to Las Vegas.I’ve owned and driven this car regularly for the past 5 years. But have recently restored my classic car that I will be driving.Clean Title. Registration good through MARCH 2020. smogged last month.I have a list from the BMW DEALERSHIP where all the previous work was done before I acquired it.This is a great economical 4 cyl. Z3 and drives really well on the freeway, you can barely feel it when going 85mph. Here are some of the flaws: Does have some front spoiler rash, with some paint chips. Interior fan/blower makes noise on settings 3 & 4, Power mirrors seem to work only in the up position (possible due to the contacts being dirty), One of the wiper washer nozzles is not working. The radio tuner sometimes fades out, I had the stereo refurbished but they couldn’t fix the tuner (New buyer will probably install a modern stereo system). I wanted to keep it all original so I never changed it.) Work done before I got it (about 6-7 years ago) includes: 1.hood, front and rear bumpers have been re-painted to factory match2.fog lamps were replaced, both seats re-upholstered to factory standards/color3.cam position sensor replaced4.fan clutch replaced, crankshaft seal (and rear), oil pan gasket, valve cover gasket5.tensioner conversion kit, a/c switch, air intake boot, belt tensioner pulley 6.oxygen sensor7.lower and upper engine cover gasket and timing cover gasket8.shift lever seal, intake manifold gasket, a/c tensioner pulley9.lower control arm, thrust arm bushings, cv boot, transmission torque converter10. transmission flush and service, and replace selector shaft seals, transmission mounts. Work done since I’ve owned it: 11. All tires replaced about 3 years ago12. Re-painted in original color about 2 years ago.13.Antenna replaced 3 years ago14.AC was just recharged with new Hoses installed15.Wiper blades replaced last year16.Headlights just polished17.fog lights were replaced last year, but unfortunately the glass has cracked on both.18.Engine power washed a few months ago.19.Chrome front grills replaced about 3 years ago.20. CD changer comes with two 6 CD holders21.Glove box has been reinforced 22.rear shocks23. New Windshield24. ***Re-listed due to highest bidder not following through & RESERVE LOWERED*** As a 15-year Master ASE Certified Mechanic, I am extremely proud to present my 1998 BMW Z3 for auction. This car has been meticulously reconditioned since I've owned it. Title history shows that I am the third owner, however this has only been a 2-household Z, and was previously elderly owned with changes only in title name before my ownership. Built in Spartanburg SC, it has been a Charleston native its entire life. This particular Z has the 2.8l 6-cylinder engine and 5-speed manual transmission with less than 48,000 miles registered on the odometer. The completely original powertrain and drivetrain systems work and drive as they should. Since taking ownership, my fellow team of BMW Technicians and I have thoroughly inspected this Z. The engine cooling system has been tested, needing only a replacement of the thermostat and flushing of the coolant. After replacing the thermostat and coolant, the heat is hot. The original water pump is without defect and exhibits 0% overheating issues. The air conditioning system has been inspected and all components are working as designed, currently blowing cold after properly recycling and recharging the freon. The braking system has been inspected and tested, now composed of new front brake calipers and brake fluid, with good front and rear pads/rotors. The original suspension components were deemed expired and worn, now consisting of new front and rear shock absorbers and lower control arm bushings. Suspension has been fitted with new H&R Sport Springs to incorporate the sporty feeling and look a 6-cylinder Z should have. The car drives straight after alignment and stays planted to the road with the brand new staggered 17" wheel setup, wrapped in brand new front and rear Nitto 555 tires. The interior has been redone as well, with particular attention being paid to the door panels and seats. The original black vinyl/leather covering the door panels and seats dried out over time and exhibited premature wear with rips. Since then, the door panels have been overhauled and reupholstered with genuine brown perforated leather. Matching the panels, the seats have been refoamed and are now wrapped in genuine perforated brown leather for breathability and comfort. It was my personal choice to incorporate a Black and Cinnamon color combination to this Z. The manual convertible top is soft to the touch and is in excellent condition without tears or leaks. It easily folds down and stays down when I drive the car only once a week. The audio system is the original Harmon Kardon system that was optioned when this Z was built and works great. The exterior is in excellent condition. History checks of this Z show that it has been in a small accident in 2005. I verified with the previous owners that only damage to the hood was inflicted and has been repainted after they filed an insurance claim. All body panels match and have the original VIN stickers. I replaced the original kidney grills with black chrome grills for a look that I prefer. The rear differential mounts do not have cracks as this car hasn't been abused. The underbody of this car is in good condition and there are no leaks of any kind. This gorgeous Z is being auctioned with reserve to follow comp pricing. If it doesn't meet reserve after auction ends, I will determine whether I will re-list it or can accept final price. It is being sold in good faith and in as-is condition.
