It took the powerful motor shared with the Riviera, wrapped it around a sleek body, and then gave it a European-inspired fully independent suspension. So when you can find a loaded and highly original example that has been well cared for all its life, well then, the value goes well beyond affordability. Workmanship is... very good, because it was built at a factory specially set up by GM to build these low volume personal luxury cars. In fact, while General Motors is known for mass production, this Reatta can almost be considered hand-crafted. So something this carefully made looks great in a bright white (it even shows all signs of being the original application.) The swoopy design with folding headlights and a very cool wrap-around taillight panel is still handsome today. It's so unique that people will guess a value several times the asking price - a tribute to the car's styling and presence. And the other reason why this looks so upper-class is the level of care in the details. It all looks great – from the white folding roof (with glass rear window) to the special 16-inch factory alloys. The nice gray pinstripe on the outside is a nice preview of the full gray luxury interior. The condition of the leather interior really lets you know this car has been babied all its life. These great-looking bucket seats are power adjustable so you can make them armchair comfortable. Almost everything was standard in the Reatta, including power windows, power locks, keyless entry, driver airbag, and the factory AM/FM/cassette stereo with CD player with new Pioneer speakers. Plus, you get a very cool electro-luminescent gauge panel that offers all the right info, while retaining the car's cool futuristic style. And because you're going to love taking the top down and showing off the interior, you'll be glad the air conditioning is blowing nice and cold. When you open the hood, you're treated to more of the original style that you've seen in the interior and exterior. I overheated my Reatta convertible, was my daily driver for 7 years, and driving daily. Black exterior, tan interior. Water leaked from metal hose up under the alternator. It may have ruined the head gaskets. I think, not 100% sure, as it ran fine the next morning, shut it off, and heard an unusual strange noise, then wouldn't turn over. In need of quick cash and this car gone. I had just put on new water pump, new starter, and new battery all within past 2 weeks. Top is original and old, some leaks, so needs replacement. Top Needs Replacement. Only has 136,000 miles. Tires are relatively new, about 10 k on them, wheels are nice. Photos taken after a mud bath. New spare. It's perfect for the garage mechanic looking for a classic. They only made 2000+- convertibles, and these sell for top dollar and increasing yearly. Look at the prices, compare online. Trans shift fine. This is a good way to get into one of these cheaply. Needs some other small repairs, headlights doors (old problem) window motors. Paint on hood needs re-doing. Planned to drive it forever and restore as needed, hate to sell it but don't have time. Was a good daily driver. If you got time to change head gaskets, or fiddle with the unknowns you got a great deal here and will increase in value. This is officially an antique and will increase in value as you drive. 1990 Buick Reatta runs strong needs restoration. Rare hand-built convertible in good restorable condition. This Reatta has 123k miles. The car drives good, the 3800 engine runs strong and the transmission shifts good. I bought it to restore for the spring, but need to sell. It would make an excellent winter project. I will list the good points and work I know it needs done. Most of the work is minor or cosmetic. I have been driving the car regularly The good: The engine starts right up, no noise or smoke. The transmission shifts good with no issues. The car gives a decent ride, no major issues ( rotors pulsing some) The body looks straight and solid 99% rustfree, very minimal surface rust underneath, no holes or cancer. The interior is in good shape for its age, the leather seats look nice with no damage. The power windows, locks , mirrors work Dash instruments work ( I think cluster was improved over earlier models) Starter, alternator, lights working The bad: The car had a rebuilt salvage title issued in 2001 in California. The car looks straight with no signs of any frame damage or repair, so not sure why. The car has been driven 100k since. The car needs a convertible top. The car needs tires. They hold air, but down to the cords. Minor stuff: The headlights stay up. They work and can be wound down manually. The AC service light is on, may need AC charge.Check engine light and abs light on intermittently. Recommend brakes gone over, rotors rusty ABS light intermittent. Overall a good running Reatta I would not hesitate to drive with new tires and minor maintenance. These cars are appreciating in value with restored examples going for 10-15k.
