1996 Buick Roadmaster Limited 1996 Buick Roadmaster LTD Wagon wood delete dark cherry metallic tan leather

1996 Buick RoadmasterVIN: 1G4BR82P4TR402042Listing Date: 2019/03/19

Have you seen the Hagerty 2019 Best Ten List? This car is on it. About 80 made with this combination. Last year as you know. The paint and pinstripes are original and retains about 75% of gloss. There are three door dings (pimple size) in various places and could be removed by paintless methods in all probability. Two chrome strips held down by small screws are visible. You can see LR taillight has some minor cloudiness on top but is almost unnoticeable. I have the third seat as well as the cargo roof rails. The wood floor in back lifts up to access storage where the third seat was and there is a prop to hold it open. About 10 cubic feet of storage there. You can easily reinstall the seat if you want and still leave the wood there but it would be a slight incline. Holds sheets of plywood flat with tailgate closed. An identical car (but bright red interior) just sold in late January for 18000. See "Sold" listings. Much lower mileage but oooh that red color made my retinas ache. It had slight underside rust also. And unlike an SUV, this car has low center of gravity, longer wheelbase and track and it isn't going to roll if hit on the side. There is a Youtube video showing just how many SUV's roll. And so what's the problem with a rollover? How are you or guests (kids) going to get out when the doors on one side are flat against the pavement and the others are up in the air? This is the Limited model with every goodie available then, like power lumbar driver and passenger, reclining and etc. Trailer tow package (though no hitch ever installed) so heavy duty cooling and etc. Only the 1996 model has OBDII which, by the way, you can read from the climate control readout so you don't need a meter. I have a printed list of every code that it reads. Also can read rpm and engine temp in exact digital readout. No mechanical issues at all. Everything works. Everything. Doesn't burn or leak oil. Power to spare. I hate to use the phrase "ice cold air" because of course if the air coming out of the vents was truly ice cold, the evaporator would clog up. So it's cold, OK? And yes the evaporator has even been replaced. The "Pass Key" light is on however. Apparently someone bypassed the key chip sensor but it doesn't affect any functions. Original manual and brochure and remote. A potential buyer had it inspected and it's all good. Deal didn't close because he wanted to knock the price down, probably for resale. The Hagerty valuation price is $13000 to $18000. I know this sounds high which is why the price is what it is. Prior owner and I have done all the replacement to accessory mechanical components like Optispark, tie rods, oil cooler lines and etc. New tires. Trans oil and filters changed twice so as to remove all the fine grit that eventually is the downfall of these and other auto transmissions. Diff oil changed. Who does that? So you get the idea. Like the back side of the wheels. *see photo before and after* The factory leaves the rough-ish aluminum casting surface inside but polishes the front. So there is inevitable pitting on the back or inside of the wheels. I wire brushed it all off and painted with a bright chrome finish. All the little places where car polish accumulates in the many many trim pieces has been fastidiously removed. So it shows like it might be concours level but really it's not. I hesitate to give it a category number because I'm not an expert at that art. It is great for Cars and Coffee events however. It has such presence. If the photos don't convince you that it's worth what the listing price is, then maybe my pics are not so great. How many of the listings you see talk candidly about rust? They say lots of stuff like never driven in salt or "southern car". But do you know cars of this era have some rust issues inevitably just from rain? You can treat it or ignore it. I have chosen to treat it and so you see the photo of the wheel well. There was some flaky rust in all the wells (about 10 square inches each) but wire brushed to shiny metal, painted with rust converter and then glassed and then painted or flex-sealed. Same for the rear seat foot wells about 6 square inches each. Same for spare tire well. And while I was at it, the entire underside has been wire brushed and either rust preserver-ed or rust converter or flex sealed where I thought first two steps inadequate. There are a few places where I couldn't get at it even with a Dremel but it's just the kind of pitting you would expect on the undersurfaces. No exterior sheet metal rust except one spot of about two square inches. The repaint there would be hard to find. No doors, rockers, etc. It has been in my heated and cooled garage for three years since I bought it. So pampered and cherished. But driven hard every two weeks or so. By hard I mean highway (plus) speeds and given half throttle or more when I can. I do believe a little in "Italian Tune Ups" so as to keep the rings seated. Recent potential buyer had it inspected and it's all good. I am selling because it's time to move on to my next collector car, which would be my 32nd. I have owned exotics like a Lambo Miura, Ferraris etc and crazy cars like an NSU Prinz which nobody has heard of. Anyway, time to sell.

Highly original, exceptionally maintained, and absolutely plush, this is the loaded cruiser offered for an affordable price. This is the last of the big American luxury cars... this is the last generation Roadmaster. Like the name sounds, this one is meant to own the asphalt. But while it's substantial in size, it also has a graceful look with a gently... sloping hood, dual color pinstripes, and wraparound taillights. This is finished in its original Silver Metallic, and the way it continues to pop in the sunshine lets you know this luxury sedan was treated with care all its life. Against this bright silver is additional shining thanks to classic American style brightwork that includes the distinct grille, factory wire wheel covers, and a bright trim line that encircles the entire body. While the exterior is nicely preserved, it's the interior you're really going to love. These are known for their space to really let everyone spread out, and with such a quality condition, this Roadmaster continues to provide true luxury. It's not just that you have plush velour and a ton of legroom, but also Buick really understood the details. For example, the rear seat has individual bolstering and a fold-down armrest, so you can really offer two people true individual lavishness. Up front is the same kind of personal luxury, and the seats even power adjust to your ideal position. You've got a ton more features, including power windows, power locks, key-less entry, power mirrors, full instrumentation, and automatic climate control. If this is starting to sound like a great modern classic, then you'll also be excited about modern safety features like a driver airbag and anti-lock brakes. It's a great road-tripping Roadmaster, and so the trunk swallows luggage, golf clubs, and just about anything else you'd want to take with you. Under the hood is more of that well-preserved look seen throughout the car, so it should be no surprise that this is believed to be the original motor. It's a fuel-injected 5.7-liter engine, which means plenty of power whenever you need it, but the kind of quiet operation you expect from a car built to this degree of comfort. And speaking of comfort the Dynaride suspension with leveling shocks gives this the feeling of floating down the road. Plus, the power steering, cruise control, front disc brakes, and four-speed automatic transmission with a highway-ready overdrive are all perfect for the long haul. Complete with owner's manual, this is a modern classic made from one of Buick's best pedigrees. So if your dream is to feel like driving on a cloud, don't miss this Roadmaster. Call now!
