With perfect specimens trading hands for well over sticker price, they're one of the most stable Chevrolet investments you can make. And if you're just looking for a clean one to drive and enjoy, you won't do better than this clean, unmodified 1996 example. Wearing its factory Dark Gray Green metallic paint (yes, that's the factory name), you can see how straight this Imp really is. Original sheetmetal, straight doors, and very little road rash all contribute to this car's preservation. Having spent its life in the warm, dry southern US, it's very clean underneath with the factory paint now some modest signs of living in the sun, which is probably inevitable. From the blacked-out grille to the unique quarter windows, to the body-color 'Impala SS' badges on the quarters, all the unique Impala features remain in place, giving it the same imposing, sinister look it had when it was new. And even though it's coming up on 25 years old, it looks quite presentable overall; not perfect, but offering a heck of a bargain at this price. The color is hard to reproduce in our studio, but this on eis correct, don't worry, and it's impossible to mistake these big cruisers for anything else on the road. When they styled this one, they got it exactly right. Gray leather was your only choice in an Impala SS, and like the exterior, the upholstery in this one is nicely preserved showing careful use, but no issues. The leather on the driver's seat remains supple with a few "comfort marks" but no split seams or damage, and everything works as it should. The carpets are original so they're showing a few minor signs of age, and they're protected by floor mats that will keep things tidy. The SS offers a full array of instruments, but somehow the instrument panel's lens has gotten cloudy, so it should either be polished or replaced, something that'll remove years of age from the car's appearance. The back seat looks almost completely unused, with cavernous legroom and cool embroidered Impala SS emblems on the seat backs. And, as a full-sized American rear-wheel-drive sedan, you know the trunk is positively cavernous, offering correct mouse fur mats, a cargo net, and a spare tire with its own cover. The Corvette-derived LT1 V8 under the hood is one of GM's best powerplants, and this one shows just 55,713 original miles so it runs quite well and will probably continue to do so for quite some time. Making 260 horsepower in Impala guise, the big car moves like a machine half its size. With meticulous maintenance by just two owners, you can buy this one with confidence, too, and know that it is mechanically excellent. The engine bay is exceptionally clean given the car's age and mileage, with factory-style equipment used throughout; there are no questionable aftermarket mods. The 4-speed automatic transmission shifts like it should, and it rumbles through a dual exhaust system that is neither too loud nor luxury car quiet. Most remarkably, this car has not been modified in any way, which is not only easy, but extremely popular with Impala SS enthusiasts. 4-wheel disc brakes are powerful and live behind some of the most beautiful factory-issued alloys ever made, which show no curb rash and wear relatively recent 255/50/17 performance radials. If you've been looking for an SS to drive or to serve as the foundation for a custom build, this is an awesome choice at a great price. Call today! It's got a radical look to it and this thing is fast! Check it out. Not sure where or how to start describing this vehicle. First impressions get people wondering. Second impressions keep them wondering. They might notice the aggressive stance to the chassis and wonder what...lies beneath that custom body. Dressed in Black with a hood scoop outlined in silver with blue pinstripes, the look up front is super clean. There are no hood or fender lines breaking up the flow of the body. The spoiler reaches low to the ground with fog lights and ducts cut into it. An oval grill with horizontal bars allows air in for cooling and headlights blend smoothly into the fenders. The bed of this vehicle features road racing aero down low and custom cutouts on the leading and trailing edges of the wheel wells. A hard bed cover continues the silver with blue pinstripe treatment down the center. Lift it up and you will find a nice flat cargo area with extra stowage below a lift up panel. Open the door and you will find an interior from the Caprice wagon that the chassis is based on. The door panel has a black upper with a pull handle set in wood grain panel. The center section is gray with vertical stripes and is underlined by black which matches the carpeting in the car. The bucket seats echo the look with gray pleated seating surfaces edged by smooth black vinyl with SS embroidered into the headrests. There is a leather wrapped steering wheel mounted on a tilt column with cruise. A rectangular dash display has clearly visible gauges for the speedo and tach as well as fuel, oil, water and volt meters. Wood grain cuts across the center with controls mounted in it including those for the R134 A/C system and AM/FM radio. The black and gray center console has a nice armrest as well as the switches for the power windows and a shifter for the 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive that was sourced from a late model Camaro. Tilting the hood forward on this car is fun and dramatic. And, it exposes another nice piece of hardware borrowed from the Camaro. A 6.2-liter V8 that sits down in the engine bay rather nicely. There is a cold air intake, a black cover dressing out the intake manifold, and silver covers with Chevrolet in script dressing out the valve covers. Hooker headers flow back to a dual exhaust system with free flow mufflers. The substantial amount of power that engine makes is sent back through the 4-speed automatic that was sourced from the same car so everything works together nicely. A solid axle located by a trailing arm rear suspension with coil springs transfers all that power to the ground. Up front, a control arm suspension with coil springs and a stout sway bar keeps the car cornering flat and ventilated disc brakes haul it back down from speed when you decide to let the horses run. The rubber meets the road through 275/50R17s in the back and 225/50R17s up front mounted on American Racing wheels. You can go your own way with this custom sports truck. And you can do it quickly, because this thing is fast!! Forget porky taxi cabs and police cruisers, this insane custom offers a slammed stance, incredible paint, and enough room for the Celtics' starting lineup. The Impala SS created a whole new niche of full-sized muscle, but the Caprice Classic shouldn't be overlooked as this car so ably proves. The paint is basic black over Corvette Sunset Orange with a bright purple stripe bisecting the two, all rendered in House of Kolor urethane and wrapping into the door jambs. Not only does it look awesome, but it fits the big car's curves in such a way as to mask its size and give it a nimble, high performance look, or at least something that looks less suburban. The work probably wasn't cheap, either, since finish quality is quite good with a shine that's dazzling and fit and finish that suggest that this car has never been hit or damaged in its life. A billet grille and custom bumper smooth the front end without losing the car's identity, while a shaved tailgate makes a distinctive statement out back. Tinted windows emphasize the sleek shape, and the entire car has been completely de-badged. Inside, full-sized comfort meets performance car function, with wide velour bench seats that look like buckets with an armrest between them. A billet steering wheel has been fitted in place of the chunky original airbag unit, and the instrument panel is factory-issue and surrounded with a contrasting silver bezel that matches the other interior trim. The seats show some character marks, but no damage or signs of neglect, and with this top-of-the-line car in 1992, everything was standard, from power windows to A/C. A big, honkin' stereo system has been fitted in the dash, with a Sony AM/FM/CD head unit and speakers throughout the interior and a back seat filled with a custom speaker box. And as a station wagon, the cargo bay is so big it can handle a week's worth of luggage or all your gear for your hot rod. Try that with your Corvette! Speaking of Corvettes, the Caprice was powered by a version of the LT1, detuned slightly but still robust and making plenty of torque. Shockingly, this one is still pretty stock, so it's reliable, docile, and ready to cruise any time with OEM functionality. Recent work includes new fuel injectors, a full tune up, new sensors, replacement A/C compressor, and a fresh fuel pump. It starts easily, idles well, and with a stock exhaust system, it remains effortlessly comfortable to drive. The springs have been replaced by Eibach units that help with the lowered stance, along with a set of Belltech drop spindles that give it a bit of a rake. Those massive Budnik wheels measure 19 inches up front and 20 inches in back and carry 245/40/19 and 75/45/20 performance radials, respectively. Originally customized by West Coast legend Bernt Karlsson, this waggy is a neck-breaker. If you like these big bruisers, you can't own one that will get more eyeballs than this. Well tuned, easy to drive, and very affordable, you can't get more high-end sheetmetal per dollar than this.
