The Chevrolet Impala SS was far meaner than any standard Caprice, able to run to 60 mph in 7.0 seconds and through the quarter mile in 15.4 seconds, scorching contemporary four-door muscle machines. The Impala SS's spaciousness and... comfort, whether for road trips or just for cruising around town. The trunk is enormous (at 20.4 cubic feet, it's more spacious than the trunk in today's Mercedes-Benz S-Class), and the back seat has enough head- and legroom to easily accommodate 6-foot passengers. My head doesn't come close to touching the cloth headliner. The four-gauge instrument cluster is plain and legible, and both the climate-control knobs and the sound system use large controls that are handily within the driver's reach. The 260-hp V-8 speaks softly and the four-speed automatic glides between gears gently when we pull away from lights in traffic, though you'll find plenty of torque on tap when the road clears and you dip deeper into the throttle. A large-diameter steering wheel and light-effort power steering make it easy to maneuver the big Impala. The upshot of the suspension tuning is that the Impala SS is remarkably comfortable for a performance-oriented car. Large 255/50R-17 tires help cushion driver and passengers from pothole impacts; engine and road noise are reasonably subdued; and the wide, flat seats are as plush as leather couches. [ omitted ]. Up for auction here is a very clean 95 Caprice classic wagon. It has low miles for the year and has always been meticulously maintained. It stays indoors and has never been driven in the Iowa winters. There is no rust and the body is clean. There are a couple small dings and a scrape on the passenger rear. These are very minor and could be fixed easily. The interior is very clean and shows minimal wear. It runs and drives great and needs nothing at all. Power comes from an LT1 350 with a 4speed overdrive automatic transmission. This is a very original car so it would be perfect to leave as a time capsule or it could be the perfect pallet for a cool custom wagon. If you need to have this shipped we can work with your shipper. If you want to drive it home, just fly into the nearest airport and take it anywhere.
