2001 Dodge Neon (second owner) 92,000 miles. $8,200 worth of customization by XS Custom Cars, Jerry Meyers, Largo Florida Planet Color Candy Blue with 4 coats Sherwin Williams Ultra Clear. (10 year fade warranty) (stupid expensive paint)The paint detail included meticulously painting all door jams, door inner panel, hood and truck panels both sides. BC2 Zen style ground effects body kit. (4 piece) Four new Monroe struts @ 72,000 miles. 18" X 9.6" rims with brand new tires installed April 2019.New exhaust with chrome tips with a nice soft purr.Street Legal window tint. Dash Mat.Pioneer CD receiver model DEH-P6200BT connected to JL Audio 4 channel , Class A/B amplifier. Delivers 70 watts to each speaker. New 4" dash tweeters. The system bumps. Professionally installed by CarTunes, Largo FL in 2011. Paid $1150.00 for complete system install. Car cover that snaps on and stays on. Just had the timing belt replaced. (Typically done at 80K miles) While we were in there, we also replaced the upper and lower dog bone motor mounts, main center motor mount, water pump, idler pulley / tensionser and OEM timing belt cover. These items are sold as a "timing belt/water pum kit". We also replaced the alternator and alternator belt, radiator hoses, radiator fluid, spark plugs, air filter and oil change for good measure. $1850.00 These are normal wear items for this 2.0 liter dodge engine. The alternator was replaced simply because it's 10 times easier to do when the engine front is being serviced and we planned to keep the car. The engine service was done by Wendel @ Art Auto, a professional, not some side kick. The front car seat covers look bad due to bleach being used. A big no no. The back seat covers are perfect. If you take the seat covers off, the seats are in perfect condition underneath. No rips, tears or burns. Replacing the front seat covers cost $220 from Wet Oakley. We bought this car from an older lady next door who barely used it. They were the original owners. The car was never in an accident. Everything on this car works! EVERYTHING! This has been a Florida car it's entire life. There isn't a spot of rust anywhere. It runs 80 mph smooth without shakes, rattles or pulling to either side. If your looking for a show stopper car for your son or daughter, this is it. You'll never see one like it. There were no engine modifications done. It's 100% original and runs smooth. Though the car looks fast, it's not, which makes it ideal for a teenager and easy on the insurance bill. People often mistaken the car for an SRT version. We put 20,000 mile on this car since 2010. Most used to commute to Knoxville TN. Once there, it would sit underneath it's cover. Then back to Florida, where it sat under it's cover. Occasionally to Punta Gorda to see grandparents. Essentially 2,250 miles per year. The AC blows cold and has never given us an issue other than a small shot of freon every other year. The front headlights have been changed recently with normal headlights. The headlight tint did not provide good night vision. I thought this would be an impediment to selling the car. You will not need to put a dime into this car if you purchase it. There are two flaws to this car. The chrome rims are pitted and the engine light stays on. The engine code is referenced to the NVLD sensor (Natural Vacuum Leak Detection) for the fuel tank. This is a know problem since the car was new. This is one of those pesky faults that does not impede the car safety or performance and simply needs the NVLD replaced, which is common on Dodge vehicles. The cost to replace the part is $160.00. The outside could use a fresh coat of paint. The intereior is in good shape and mechanically the engine runs good and it shifts as it should. There is a noise that may be a wheel hub. The car reportedly has been displayed in a performance shop showroom and driven sparingly in good weather. Power is provided by a turbocharged 2.4L inline-four paired with a 5-speed manual transaxle and a factory Quaife torque-sensing limited-slip differential. The car is finished in Orange Blast over a Dark Slate Gray interior, and it was recently serviced with new transmission fluid, an oil and filter change, and a coolant flush. This SRT-4 is now offered with a clean Carfax report and a clean New Jersey title. 1,800 Orange Blast Neon SRT-4s were reportedly produced for the model’s final year in 2005. Compared with the base Neon, the SRT-4 model features revised front and rear fascias, rocker extensions, dual-outlet exhaust, and a basket-handle rear wing. The factory 17″ wheels and BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW tires were removed at 600 miles and stored in a climate-controlled basement for preservation. The factory-equipped wheels and tires have been reinstalled in preparation for sale, and they are fitted with locking lug nuts. The interior features Dark Slate Gray factory cloth sport seats with leather bolsters, and it is equipped with power front windows, power mirrors, and a factory stereo system. I would rate the exterior of this Neon to be in AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage. This is a good looking sedan, overall. It is finished in Flame Red over Slate Gran interior. The bright red finish shines nicely and looks smooth all around. As with any older vehicle, please expect a few flaws and imperfections commensurate with age and mileage. On this specific Neon, there are scratches on the roof and right side (looks like from a purse) which may not be visible in the photos. Also, there is visible rust on the rear of the rockers. All not much to really hate an older car for. The body lines are nice and straight. The hood, doors, and trunk all open and close easily. All of the glass and lenses are intact. The factory alloy wheels show well for their age and are wrapped in nice rubber with average tread all around. Please take the time to check out each of the photos carefully. I would rate the interior of this Neon to be in AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage. The door cardsa are tight. The dash and headliner are clean. The carpets show some wear but are presntable. The seats are comfortable and are also presentable for their age. There is a noticeable smoke odor in the interior. The power windows work properly. Everything else in the car is manual...so nothing to worry about there. The audio system is original and sounds good through the factory speakers. The climate control system also appears to be working properly. The heater works well and the air conditioner blows ICE COLD AIR, too. The trunk is spacious and clean. Again, please take your time and check out each of the photos carefully. Mechanically, this Neon SXT appears to be in good running and driving condition. The 2.0L engine starts easily and runs smoothly. I didn't notice any leaks and the engine does not smoke. Her road manners are good for an older Neon. You can feel some age in the suspension bushings but it goes down the road fine. Steering and braking feel good, too. There is a humming type of vibration noticeable while going down the road. It has been a few years since I've had a Neon but I feel like it's normal at this age for these cars. If I had to guess, I'd say there is maybe a worn engine mount that is allowing vibrations to be felt in the car. Again...no big deal. I'm just trying to be thorough. The engine keeps perfect temperature and feels strong. There have been no idiot lights on during my road test. The clutch engages smoothly and does not slip or chatter. Gear changes through the five speed manual transmision are smooth and precise, as they should be. Out on the highway, she gets down the road just fine.
