2003 Freightliner Sprinter Hightop Camper Van buildout This van was built out with love. My intention was to maximize utility and provide a few creature comforts while adventuring to wherever the travel bug leads me. For me, most of those locations have sizable boulder fields and vast landscapes. Pitching tents in the cold winter elements just became a drag over the years, and was not helping my recovery. Although, I do have to say, I appreciate a good ole back country camping trip every once in a while! My design idea was focused on maximizing living space and storage while also making it easily modifiable just in case the next owner feels the need to do so. I wanted to be able to load up to 7 crash pads and have enough living space to comfortably stand and stretch. All the cabinets and doors were custom made with reclaimed wood to create a rustic appearance. The walls are tongue and groove cedar plank and all shelves were custom made with rough sawn cedar. The curtains were hand made with beautiful fabric by my wife. I am the third owner of the vehicle and I have taken great care if it since I have had it. I does have mild cosmetic damage buts doesn’t affect its utility in the least. All necessary repairs and routine maintenance has been done by an excellent local mechanic here in Asheville, NC. Everything is in working order. The engine is bullet and is of the generation that’s known to run a million miles! I just arrived home from a 4000 mile road trip to Hueco Tanks State Park in El Paso, Texas and it ran like a dream! I averaged about 22 mpg and was very comfortable all along the way.
