Here is a unique opportunity to own a rare piece of Shelby, Hertz and Ford Automotive history. This is one of only 171 cars produced by Shelby exclusively for the Hertz Corporation. With only 38 miles, it could possibly be the newest one in existence. What is extremely unique about this particular vehicle, is that it is one of only 16 licensee cars. A Hertz licensee is someone who own’s a particular Hertz franchise location. All the cars are owned by him/her, not the corporation. Originally, Hertz commissioned Shelby to build 150 cars. 140 cars to be used in the rental fleet and the remaining 10 cars were for the top Hertz executive. As the cars were being built, another 6 executive cars were added to the order, along with 15 additional cars. These cars were among the last ones built and made available to Hertz licensees through a lotto system. From what I understand, the Hertz licensee had to have a minimum of 100 cars in their fleet in order to even enter for the chance of winning the right to purchase one. After receiving the cars, the licensees found out that they had to put 12,000 miles on them or wait 1 year before they could offer them up for sale. Some were rented, and others were driven solely by the owner. I made arrangement with a licensee for him to not rent it out, but to leave it exactly the way he received it from Shelby. The plastic is still on the seats. The owner’s manual and floor mats are still wrapped in the plastic from the factory. The car has been stored inside and never driven in the rain and of course never rented with only 38 miles. So, what would be your chances of finding another example of a 50thanniversary rent-a-racer in the wrapper.? Now ask yourself what would a 1966 Shelby GT350H that is still in the wrapper with only 38 miles be worth today, if it even existed. It would be priceless. Its value would be beyond the average person’s comprehension. This car has that potential. The 50thAnniversary Shelby GT-H is in everyway better than the 1966 model. It’s rarer, faster, and handles and drives better and with all the technology upgrades.
