For starters, it's avoided any notable collisions during its 14-year life span, and carries the clean AutoCheck report to prove it. Then, there's its unusually low low mileage at only 8,839, or just about 600 miles per year! Top it all off with its array of great features and you have a car that's well-positioned to provide open-air driving enjoyment for miles and... miles to come. It doesn't take much in the way of incidental damage or simple exposure to the elements to detract from the look of a black exterior, but fortunately, in addition to having been driven with care, this T-Bird looks to have also been well-sheltered during its considerable downtime, and you'll find no glaring blemishes or fading on the paint to pull focus from its great looking exterior. And all of its badging and trim is in optimal form. Ford harkened all the way back to the early days of the model when they re-released the modern reboot, giving it a design that borrowed from the more compact configurations of its mid-'50s heyday - namely, the two-seater configuration, front grille, front fender vents and subtle hood scoop. Low to the ground and streamlined, it's an inspired looking roadster that offers the option of open air cruising down the highway, but with the protection from the elements of a still new-looking black vinyl top that raises promptly into place with the flick of a switch. For a more sheltered experience, a black accessory hardtop is also included, featuring a pair of porthole windows also reminiscent of its vintage predecessors. The tan leather interior has benefitted mightily from light usage. Its relatively light color itself is a plus, especially in a convertible as it absorbs less heat than darker shades, and its pairing with the black outside is a great match. There's not much evidence of wear inside and the sharp-looking bucket seats look very much as they did when this Ford left the lot. Post-millennial cars generally carry more features than those before them, and this one is no exception, as it has air conditioning, heated seats, a steering column that not only tilts but telescopes into the perfect driving position, cruise control, power windows and power door locks. With factory subwoofers mounted in back, its AM/FM/CD player sounds particularly impressive and driver and passenger airbags add a welcome measure of safety should the unforeseen happen. The trunk area in back looks as if it's seen no action at all. Being so fresh, the drivetrain is just now broken in and entering its prime. The 3.9-liter engine sitting in an unusually clean bay - even for a car having logged so few miles - is a smooth running performer yielding in excess of 250 horsepower to make for smile inducing acceleration. The compact V8 pairs with a 5-speed automatic overdrive transmission that shifts with just the precision you'd expect. Factor in precise power steering and 4-wheel anti-lock power disc brakes and you have a car with really nice modern driving features that also represents a fitting nod to droptop Fords of the past that cruises on a set of 17" cast aluminum wheels outfitted with Michelin tires. Below, the undercarriage looks very fresh, and you can clearly see the pair of braces Ford employed to add outstanding rigidity to this post-millennial convertible.
