Selling at no reserve- highest bid takes it. For more info please call 408 839 5569 Jaguar made only 1 coupe for every 8 convertibles so these cars are rare and hard to find. This one is in the very desirable British Racing Green over tan leather interior. Needs work- engine is bad- no compression- will not run. Good car to repair- fix the engine or convert it to GM LS power with a kit from Jaguar Specialties (inquire for more info) This has been a California car since new and nice condition overall- good body, nice interior, chrome wheels and only 97,035 original miles. Well looked after with many receipts from the Jag dealer and high end California repair shops (including rebuilt transmission at $7000+ and others- see samples below). The current owner was planning to do an GM-LS engine and transmission conversion on it and even purchased the Jaguar Specialties kit (which was $2321 total with shipping and tax), but he now cannot afford to do the project. The car is still in original shape and has not been disassembled (and the LS conversion kit is still in a box, untouched). This auction is only for the car only. (The LS conversion kit is available separately at a good discount off original price- please inquire) This car has been sitting unused for just over a year. Overall good condition- body has a few dings here and there- no rust anywhere. Paint appears to be original and clear coat has failed on the roof and trunk lid (see pics)- otherwise, the paint on the car is ok and could use a major buffing. Interior overall good- seats much better than typical for this year with no rips/holes or major wear; door panels, dash, headliner, and carpets all nice. Dash wood may have a crack here or there. Has chrome wheels with decent Michelin tires. Wheels look nice but have the typical corrosion between the spokes if you look closely. Passenger headlight has a chip in the lens but seems ok. Electrically everything seems to work. Radio seems to work but digital display is weak. CD changer in the trunk wasn't tested. Digital display- mileage, etc.,.- on dash works but is readout is weak. If you haven't already seen or heard about the possibility of an LS engine in an XK8, go straight to the Jaguar Specialties website (can't list the exact address here- do a Google search) and see their info on it. This is a FANTASTIC conversion for these cars (they even have an option for a manual transmission....) Since the car is for sale the kit is really not needed any longer, so it can be purchased as an extra item if the winning bidder is interested.
