1997 Mazda Protege 4dr sedan 1.5 L 5 spd. Good little economical car that is clean inside, runs great, no leaks, does not burn oil but needs a clutch kit which is about $100 + Labor I'm told. The clutch is not working so will need repaired to drive. It has about 200k miles on the 1.5 l and often get about 40mpg. New front tires but no time to fix. Some rust on rear fenders. Great car, perfect for anyone who wants a low-cost (repairs < $900), affordable (over 40mpg, cheap parts), very reliable vehicle (robust engine, have had it since 124k)! I was planning on fixing it up and keeping it but unfortunately I can't due to financial difficulties. Submit your offers! The good: * turns over and runs * moon roof * AC works very well (heat/cold) * has driver and passenger airbags * upgraded aftermarket Pioneer? stereo with CD player * automatic windows and door locks (DX model) * back seats fold down so you can load lengthy items through the trunk * very clean inside (upholstery/seats, from pet-free home) and out (minimal paint wear - stored in car port) * gas saver (1.5 liter 4 cylinder DOHC engine easily gets 30+ mpg in city and 35-39 mpg on highway!!) * cheap to insure (~$385/year - non-comprehensive) * clean title (California, Bay Area car, so no rust from salt/water) * currently in PNO (planned non-operation), so no back-registration dues (registration is ~$100/year) * these Mazdas are dogs (built fully in Japan, not in Canada or Mexico - did my research before buying and owned another one) and don't die, which is why the high mileage (200,467) doesn't mean much - they only have normal wear and tear (or problems due to a mechanic that doesn't know his job!) The bad: * needs radiator replacement * needs clutch replacement (fly? wheel doesn't grip and car moves sluggishly) * burns oil and makes lots of smoke, so needs gasket (or head gasket) fixed immediately * front passenger's door was hit lightly and needs bending or replacement (closes but has small gaps) Submit your offers! 2002 Mazda Protege DX model. The car runs well and there are no check lights or codes. This vehicle is equipped with a manual transmission. Purchased 2 summers ago from a dealer in Tennessee. Put 12,000 miles on the car mostly highway driving back and forth from Nashville to Chicago and 2 trips across the country from Nashville to Phoenix and then Phoenix to Chicago. Car gets great gas mileage and drives well. I am getting rid of the vehicle as I am moving. There is some tread left on tires but worn (results in slight shake when approaching 80mph). The car has an upgraded radio that has an auxiliary chord input. The AC works great on 1 and 4 setting and blows cold air (knob slot key re-glued). Body overall in good shape, most substantial damage is on front bumper (displayed in images) Car is priced to sell and will review offers, has Tennessee plates and registration.
