This auction is for a 2008 Pontiac G8 finished in Panther Black metallic with the Onyx Black interior. I’ve had this car stored indoors for nearly the last 4 years and brought it out of storage this past fall. This G8 looks as clean as a six year old vehicle because it was taken off the road and stored when it was 6 years old. (It was sold new May 2008.) Since then it’s had over $4,400 worth of service and maintenance including a new timing chain kit and headliner, details of which are further down in the description. Keep that in mind when comparing this G8 to the others listed for sale. Sure, you may be able find these cars for $4,000 or $5,000, but if you have to spend another $3,000 or $4,000 on it soon after getting it home, it’s no bargain. And it’s best to view the listing on a desktop or laptop computer, a smartphone won’t give you the same details. The Pontiac G8 is a limited production rear-wheel drive sports sedan sold for only two years in the U.S. from 2008 to 2009. The G8 is based on the General Motors Zeta platform, created by GM’s subsidiary Holden for the Australian market. Its exterior style is bold and aggressive, combining sleek form with aerodynamic function. From its stylish lines and sharp angles, it incorporates numerous design elements to create a look that exudes Euro-chic styling which looks handsome from any angle without being flashy. A quick walk around the car reveals how the G8 is one of the most stylish vehicles ever created in the sport sedan class of automobiles. The Panther Black metallic paint just about glows in the sunlight, while in the shade it turns to a piano black that shines like glass. The G8 looks absolutely fantastic in this color. You’re sure to get many questions and complements about it at the mall or supermarket parking lot from total strangers. If you don’t want attention, or if you are the least bit shy, don’t buy this car, I warn you. It has a beautiful body with excellent paint and even after walking around it twice, I couldn’t find a significant scratch or blemish other than a ding in the top of the left rear door with no paint damage. The paint itself has been cleaned with Meguiar’s Smooth Surface Clay System, polished with Meguiar’s Mirror Glaze cleaner polish, topped off with Meguiar’s Ultimate Synthetic Wax and then sealed with Meguiar’s Ultimate Fast Finish for a long lasting brilliant high gloss shine. Even the wheels have been cleaned and waxed! How obsessed is that? Ditto for the chrome exhaust tips! The headlights were detailed with the 3M headlight polishing system for a crystal clear look, then sealed with 3M Headlight Clearcoat for long lasting protection. All the glass, moldings, trim and emblems are excellent. I checked the car out top to bottom and found no evidence that is was ever wrecked or that it even has had any previous paint or bodywork done to it. It still has the original VIN stickers on all major body panels. (The front bumper and fender stickers are not readily accessible to photograph.) Remember, it’s hard enough to find a three year old or 30,000 mile vehicle that hasn’t had at least a fender-bender requiring a hood or fender to be replaced or repaired, let alone a 10+ year old car with over 100,000 miles on it. It has very nice upholstery, carpet, dashboard, door panels with no significant signs of wear, and a brand new headliner was installed. The trunk looks like it was hardly ever used and the engine compartment has been fully detailed and is clean enough to eat off of. Mechanically it runs and drives great. The engine starts instantly whether hot or cold and runs strong and feels smooth both at idle, while accelerating and throughout the cruising range. The transmission shifts smoothly. The steering wheel is on dead center going down the road with no shakes or vibrations at speed, the brakes are firm with no pedal pulsation or pulling to one side when stopping and the suspension is tight. The A/C blows ice cold. It passed Virginia safety and emissions inspection this February. Occasionally the check engine light comes on with a code P0455 for evaporative emissions leak. I was able to delete the code and drive the car until all but one emissions monitor was completed and then it passed. (This doesn’t imply or guaranty it will pass in any other state.) It has a pair of Goodyear Eagle tires on the front and a pair of Falkens on the rear with about half their tread left. These are all-season M+S rated tires that combine a high performance tread design with exceptional all-season wet/dry traction for excellent handling and a quiet ride. They have been balanced with coated balance weights mounted on the inside of the wheel for a super clean look. These weights won’t corrode and turn ugly like cheap uncoated weights. It has a Goodyear spare tire that doesn’t look like it has ever been used. The only other mechanical issues noted are the display screen sometimes goes blank or all red but it doesn’t affect the radio output. The tire pressure monitoring system sometimes acts up illuminating the warning light. It clears up after a few miles or when restarting. And some of the passenger door locks are sticky and may need a few presses of the switch to unlock completely. The vehicle has been fully checked out and serviced with over $4,400 worth of new or recent parts, maintenance and repairs with original GM, AC Delco or other name brand parts so that only your enjoyment rather than your immediate attention will be required on delivery. Spark plugs have a 100,000 mile service interval as well as for the transmission fluid change. Coolant change service is every 150,000 miles. So other than routine oil and filter changes, with all the above mentioned servicing the car has recently received, you should be good to go for another 100,000 miles before requiring major maintenance. Overall this is a super sharp car that looks absolutely fantastic in this Panther Black color. It’s been a two owner vehicle from Virginia since 2011 which probably explains why it’s so clean. With this G8 you won’t have to spend $2,500 on a complete timing chain service, you wont have to spend $1,000 or more on paint or bodywork to fix faded paint or a dented panel, you wont have to spend $500 for a new headliner, you won’t have to spend $400 on a complete front brake service, you won’t have to spend $400 on a complete rear brake service, you won’t have to spend $300 on a coolant and brake flush, you won’t have to spend $300 on a transmission, and rear axle fluid change, you won’t have to spend $300 on a tune-up and filters service, you won’t have to spend $300 on any upcoming scheduled maintenance, and you won’t have to spend $200 on a new remote key and programming if the car only comes with one key. With many of the other listings on Ebay, Craigslist or on dealers lots, you’re lucky if they even check the oil before delivery. Also, when comparing this G8 to the others listed, keep in mind that this vehicle was never wrecked, has a clean Carfax, runs excellent, is fully serviced, hasn’t been smoked in and is clean inside and out. If you are looking for an all original G8 in beautiful condition at a good price, then this one is hard to beat.
