Up for sale our 1991 Toyota MR-2 with 2.0L Turbo and 5 Speed manual transmission.We are the original owners since we bought new in 1990 from Smart Toyota. The car all original and mechanically sound with many new parts include. New head gasket was replaced a year ago due to over heat, the head gasket was surfaced and new had gasket was put on along with new timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, spark plugs wires, valve cover gasket, thermostat, oil filter, air filter and new tires, Also in the past month we put new oil pump, new alternator and new battery. No oil leak of any kind, no smoke and no rust.All lights, signal lights, power windows and locks works fine, has cruise control and Air condition.Has CD player and Cassette player. The MR-2 was stored in heated garage for the last 15 years. Cons: crack in the sun roof but no leak, check engine light is on due to oxygen sensor and since it was painted recently due to clear coat pealing there are few paint has flaws so please pay close attention to the pictures and please do not bid on it if you are out side the US and if you are so picky about the paint also do not bid if you can't look at the car. I include pictures of before the paint job so you can see how the clear coat is pealed.Still have all original manual and window sticker plus All paper work and maintenance record. Clean title -JDM Engine 4th Gen swap (56k) -Base Model NA with new aftermarket turbo -Hardtop, no leaks Pros: clean title, engine swap 4th gen cost over $5k (runs really good), new turbo $1k, new tein coilover suspension $1k, new shiftknob, new shift boot, new gps speedometer, new wheel spacers, new lights, new interior $1k, low exhaust sound. Cons: expired registration May 2017, needs smog, driver window has a gap at the top, non lsd tranny, needs new battery, stock speedometer doesn't work (fuel, rpm, battery gauge works). I live in SoCal. My car is in Sacramento. My brother will show you the car. I can lower the price a little but I can't give the car for pretty much free. Buyer must be present to buy. Cash only. 1991 mr2 turbo car. 4 cylinder 5 speed. has newer stronger clutch. t tops and seals are good. I bought originally to do a Honda turbo k20 swap and sell this toyota drive train for $1700. as these motors and turbo transmissions have been going up in price. These mr2s have been getting super popular on YouTube to modify and race , thus getting harder to find and going up in price since Hagerty magazine put them in top 20 cars to invest in. they have gone up 30% in values in past 9 months. Mr2s are starting to become the popular race car. they were once quoted as the poor man's Ferrari. they handle amazing, have rear engine and very fast. check out YouTube on mr2s. I have now a another car broken down and wife demanding to sell this project dream. or the other and I just cant spend the money now and don't have room to keep long term. I dont know alot about them as I was just learning Toyota. I know it is a 2.0 turbo engine , aftermarket clutch , aftermarket manifold, car starts then dies .it could be a sensor or something. I checked tank , cleaned it and replaced pump , filter. that's as far as I got with only Sundays to work on after yard chores. I thought about selling motor trans for $1700 and rollin shell for $1800 if someone is interested. for someone to build a k24 beast. 700hp in these cars will beat 1400 gtrs all day. even the stock turbo 2.0 maxed out engine runs 12.6 in quarter mile. these cars are amazing. at this point I'm just gonna try to sell as is if someone wants to try fix it . if it doesn't sell I will consider parting out. clean title ready to get picked up. will need a trailer as it wont stay running.
