This car has been a fantastic, reliable ride for the last 17 years but is no longer practical for my needs. Looking to downgrade to a five-seater gti. Fantastic condition for it's age. The car runs and handles as beautifully as the day I purchased it with 92,000 km / 57,000 miles. The car was purchased in Toronto, Canada in 2002, driven across the continent to San Francisco, then put on a ship bound for Hawaii. No expense was spared in finding the best Corrado, no matter where it was located. The car was shipped to the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 2017. Acceleration is smooth with no hesitation whatsoever. Gears shift smoothly with no grinding/mis-selection of gears at all. The engine runs perfectly and all mechanicals work as they should. Car starts up right away every time. Still a blast to drive, especially with the upgraded H&R coilovers. The car has been driven conservatively, and never red-lined. Hence it’s longevity and reliability. The VR6 Corrado has been described by car magazines as one of the best handling front-wheel drive cars ever made, and as one of the “top 25 cars you must drive before you die”. Own your piece of automotive history for significantly less than a Hyundai Accent, Nissan Sentra, Mitsubishi Mirage or Kia Rio. Which would you rather drive or be seen in? Every effort has been made to disclose as truthfully and accurately as possible, the history of this car during my ownership. While this is not a show car, it is probably one of the better Corrados still out there. These cars have become collectibles and are becoming increasingly rare as time goes by. Straight body, no accidents, clear title. Recent work: 2019 belt tensioner, pump pulley, antifreeze replaced. Alignment done. Legget’s Auto Service, Long Beach MS. 2018 Ignition coil, wheel bearings replaced. Torgeson Motors, Pass Christian, MS – European Car Specialist. 2016 timing chain and tensioners replaced, aluminium crack pipe installed, gear linkages replaced. Bear’s Automotive, Big Island Hawaii – European car specialist. 2016 BF Goodrich G-Force sport 17” rubber and GTI rim upgrade. No rubbing. Water pump replaced. 2014/2015 egr valve, mass airflow sensor, idle air control valve replaced. Autotech Maui – European car specialist. These difficult to find parts were sourced from VM Autohaus in Vancouver, B.C. Some parts were shipped from Germany. 2015 ABS pump accumulator, master cylinder, brake rotors, brake pads replaced. Aikane Auto, Maui. 2015 H&R Street tuned Coilover upgrade. Car was slightly lowered. Many other parts replaced throughout ownership, too much to list here. Have all receipts. Most parts have come from local vw aftermarket parts stores, germanautoparts.com, vm autohaus, and even ebay. IMPERFECTIONS Odometer issues: The car has a complicated mileage history, as outlined below. Some of the mileage discrepancies are due to errors in reading and also due to a cluster change in 2015. The reported Carfax odometer reading from 3/22/2000 is an obvious clerical error as suggested in the Carfax entry well before I purchased the car. The mileage inconsistency was due to the 86,520 km reported as not matching the 53,761 mileage. Whoever did the entry failed to realize that 86,520 km is 53,761 miles. From this date, until the last odometer reading done in Canada on 7/13/2001, and still before I purchased the car, Canadian authorities continued to mis-report the mileage. For example, on the 7/13/2001 date, mileage was reported as 57,444 km or 35,694 miles. It should have read 57,444 miles or 92,447 km. When the car was brought to Hawaii, the inspectors simply reported the km reading on the odometer as miles. This continued to be the case until the original cluster failed in 2015, diagnosed as an internal short circuit by Autotech Maui, who sent the unit to a mainland specialist for an attempted but unsuccessful repair. I then purchased a Canadian cluster from Nurburgring parts in Canada. The replacement cluster had 235,000 km on it, much higher than the actual mileage of 164,000 km on the car at the time the odometer failed. The replacement cluster now has 259000 km on it. Therefore, the actual true mileage on the car is now 188,000 km or 116,817 miles. Extremely low for a car of this age. Other imperfections: See pictures for imperfections mentioned below. Paint issues in certain spots. The entire driver’s side of the car was repainted about eight years ago, after someone backed into it while it was parked. The impact was on the driver’s door. The paint job was a close but not precise match to the rest of the car. In the last year, the paint has started to peel from this paint job in one or two spots where the paint meets the rear quarter window rubber. There is also some fading on the top sides near the rubber rails on the roof. One of the 17” rims has significant rash when it was unloaded from a shipping container. Some scratches on the other rims. Interior plastic on dash is cracked in two spots to the left of the cd player. A/C vent selector inoperative. Cold air blows directly out to the cabin, from the vents and cannot be re-directed. A/C or heat selection to the feet or base of windshield does not work. Driver’s side power mirror not working. Rear seats cannot fold down due to broken rubber straps at the top of the seats. Parcel shelf needs new straps, currently being held with string. Some broken plastic pieces on the hatchback interior trim. Rock chips on the hood of the car and front bumper. Both washer nozzles for the headlights are loose, and need to be re-bedded or removed. Once in a while, the sunroof is unresponsive to open or close when the switch is engaged. After a few minutes it works fine again. Has been this way since purchase. Both headlights have a small crack in them. The driver’s headlight recently took in condensation. Have not been able to find source of leak. Cracks were sealed with Capt. Tolley’s but condensation still gets in to the driver’s side headlight. Small stain on one of the back seats. Previously existing rust in 2 small spots appeared several years ago. Both were quarter the size of a penny . They were immediately repaired when discovered and have never returned. The two areas were the base of the hatch glass at the rubber molding and the bottom corner of the passenger door entryway. The former is a common area of rust on the Corrado. Windshield wiper on the driver's side misses a spot. This is a common Corrado problem. EXTRAS DDI side skirts, never installed. New OEM Corrado floor mats, still in the plastic. Original trunk carpet. Spare driver’s side window regulator assembly. (Purchased as a pair on ebay, passenger side failed and was replaced). Specialty tool for coilover adjustment to raise or lower the car. Original cluster at 164,000 km. Odometer still counts but tach and speed are malfunctioning. Note: original Corrado faceplate and red needles were lifted from the original cluster and placed into the second cluster, which had white needles and no name on the faceplate. Deposit The winning bidder is required to submit a $2,000 deposit which is due immediately following the close of the auction. This $2,000 deposit is good towards the purchase of the vehicle and will be deducted from the total amount of the purchase (unless otherwise requested). While we normally have all titles in our possession at the time of delivery, there are rare occasions where we may be waiting for them to arrive. If payment is made via wire transfer or cashier's check, we will hold the title until ALL funds have cleared (typically 5-10 business days).
