I'm not sure where to begin... I suppose the first thing is to clarify why there are TWO (2) Volkswagen EuroVans in the photos! The really cool one is my 2000 turquoise and white, purchased in 2003 (the same year the Reflex Silver that's for sale was built) and it now has over 265,000 miles on it and is still going strong... You just have to care for them. In some of the photos (in the garage in the background) the really, really cool one is my 1967 21-window Microbus that I purchased in 1991 and is headed for the Amelia Island Concour's De'Elegance next year... The reason for including the 2000 in the photos was to show what is possible with paint, wheels, tires, trim; the detail on the mirrors, etc., which I think the 2003 deserves at some point. It would look amazing with the right paint combination. The new owner will likely want to stick with the Reflex Silver, but you can see what the two-tone does to 'confuse' people...I can't tell you how often I get asked "what year is your VW?" Sometimes, they will even refer to it as a 'bus'. Many people who ask think it's old, but they're not quite sure, which is pretty cool... I really wasn't looking for another EuroVan, but when Volkswagen discontinued it in 2003, years later I thought about buying another one, but ultimately never did. Now it seems all the bus models are becoming 'classics', even the last EuroVans. I understand why... Last Summer, I stumbled onto this 2003 from the 3rd owner, who just 8 months earlier had to rebuild the transmission (odometer reading 153,281) She spent $6,053.01 (receipt included) put a little over 11,000 miles on it and then parked it... deciding she wanted something else. It had 164,347 miles on it when I bought it and I've put a 'whopping' 386 miles on it since. I bought the CarFax before committing; did all my due diligence and became the very happy owner of a 2003 EuroVan. This one has a pretty interesting history... and seems to have spent its entire life in Florida. I think she ended up buying a Honda or a Chrysler? I like Hondas and Chryslers, but nothing compares to a Volkswagen Van. It was probably just as well. She didn't 'love' it and had not really taken care of it. It turned out the engine had some issues, so I began to re-think starting all over with this 2003 and maybe 'retiring' my 2000. We tore everything down, ended up replacing the motor, the timing chain, hoses, lines, clamps, battery, bulbs, a few badges, plugs, cables, front brakes... I even put the wonderful after-market transmission cooler on it, just like I did with the 2000... I wanted it all right. Remember, I was still thinking about the swap. The tires are in excellent condition and the seats, carpet, dash, instrumentation are excellent. There is a little 'quirkiness' in the Climatronic display; sometimes the digits are not completely 'there'? I know the system so well that it's not an issue for me, but that's something to be aware of. The A/C blows very cold; the defroster, front and rear controls seem to work perfectly... The heater core is not working well, so the EuroVan has very little heat. That's not an issue in Florida and it's a pretty big job to repair. If it stays in the South, it will not likely be a problem, but in the spirit of transparency, that remains something that does not work well. I wasn't going to worry about it if I kept it. Also, the headliner needs some attention in a few areas, but I am going to take care of that. It's only in a few spots, but I hate a 'loose' headliner. By the way, as you can see in the photos, it has the wonderful driving lights in the front bumper and the whole Van handles amazingly well...I was really surprised by the difference in the two models. I have the receipts (including the big one from the transmission replacement) There wasn't enough space on the photo page to include them. There are spare keys for the doors, but only (1) one original ignition key. Typical sometimes, depending on the previous owners. The automatic locking system works well, so the spare door keys are somewhat unnecessary. There was no Owner's Manual with the car... again, probably long gone and typical as well. No 'love' in the past. Shame. So, here we are 8 months later and she is all ready to go...and I am getting pretty excited about the swap! I knew the 24 valve motor was stronger than the 12 valve in my 2000but I was not prepared for the difference in the acceleration, feel and responsiveness... this '03 is a totally different experience! It's quieter, faster, better at everything, and just a blast to drive. The seats remove easily for a cargo run like all Volkswagen Vans and you can pile a bunch of people into it and go... the rear bucket seats fold down into a 'picnic table', which is convenient for tailgating or trips or whatever... There's so much improvement in the way the 2003 handles but it turns out, it's not an easy swap. First of all, the custom paint job on the 2000 (a lot) would have to be put on it, then the audio system (also a lot) The 2000 has the factory sunroof and a few years ago, I had Bennie Lesch with Lesch Designs install the wonderful Webasto Hollandia 400 Sunroof (the largest sunroof available) in the roof as a 'nod' to the large, folding sunroof in the 21-window. It's amazingly cool... anyone who is looking to add a sunroof to their Bus, Bay Window, Vanagon or EuroVan will love this roof.Very sweet! So, there's just too much work and expense to make the swap after all and besides, I still love my 2000. It has carried me up and down the roads for almost 200,000 miles (it had 67,000 miles on it when I purchased it) 40,000 miles more than my 21-window did when I was working out of it! I just can't park the 2003 and I do not have any more room to store it. So in the end, I have decided to stick with the 2000 and reluctantly, sell the 2003. It's going to be a little sad giving it up after all the time and effort. I have become pretty attached to it as I do with most things I own and if I had the room for it in the garage, I would hang onto it for a while; put a nice two-tone paint job on it and see what happens? These EuroVans are finally getting the attention they deserve and this one needs to be appreciated and go to a good home. There are a few local people that have expressed an interest in it, but I am just now deciding to part with it and I have only called one of them before listing it. I do need to reserve the option to stop the auction at any time if something here materializes. We'll see... As I said earlier, the reason I decided to include the 2000 side by side the 2003 (apart from the fact that I was washing both) was to show the buyer what can be done with a little imagination and paint. If you want some great ideas, the website Pinterest has some amazing examples of EuroVans with wonderful two-tone color combinations... you would enjoy it! Personally, if I were keeping it, I would probably lower this one (just a bit) definitely put 17" wheels on it (like I did on the 2000) install a really great sound system (like I did in the 2000) EuroVans sound amazing with a good system! So much space and great acoustics... I would also keep the lower section Reflex Silver (a favorite Volkswagen color of mine) and maybe go with a Burgundy color up top? There is a beautiful example of this two-tone color combination on Pinterest. It's done a little different than I did on my 2000, but I really like it. The point is to customize it to fit your personality and give it a bit of that wonderful, old, Microbus look! A good friend of mine (a local artist) wanted to buy it and really 'funk it up' with a wild paint job to look like one of his paintings... I thought it would look amazing, but there's a chance no one else would like it, but he would and that's all that matters. He is the most likely one to buy it right now. The problem with that is he knows what I have into it and doesn't want to pay me anything for all the time and effort... some friend, uh?! Ok... so back to the particulars (sorry, I keep digressing) In short (or now long) this is one of the best examples of the last year Volkswagen EuroVan currently for sale. Every other example I have come across has not had the 'necessary' work completed or there are no receipts to document the work and this is fundamentally important. It's also reflected in the price. Be careful of any example with mileage approaching 150,000 miles that hasn't had the serious work done selling for below $15,000. I'm not saying they're not out there, but I haven't seen one yet. In my experience, they ALL require transmissions, timing chains, (engines in some cases) by 150,000 miles (sometimes a lot sooner) and a variety of other expensive issues. No one seems to have the courage or fortitude to spend what it takes to bring them back and I get that. It takes a lot of heart and nerve to commit to that level of work. You almost have to be 'wired' funny to want to resuscitate a Eurovan! To spend $12,000 - $15,000 to really bring one back in hopes that someone will also appreciate what you've done and want to give it a good home is, I suppose a risk, but it certainly was one I was willing to take... I have no regrets at all. It may take a special buyer, but I'm in no hurry and I would rather it go to someone who will really connect with it; who will take great care of it and enjoy it for a long time than to sell it to the first person who comes along. It's not about the money...really 'Bus people' get that. I have spent countless hours on-line looking at everything available for the past year and unless you count the campers, (which are very cool and in some cases, over $40,000) this '03 with the 'new' transmission, the after-market transmission cooler, motor, timing chain, all the internals, the climatronic front and rear AC, new front brakes, the Pioneer in dash with Bluetooth and USB, the Curt Class 2 hitch (yes, you can tow up to 2500 lbs easily and likely a bit more or use it as a simple bike rack mount) the Yakima roof rack, tires, new wheel badges, wiper blades front and back (I tried not to overlook anything) etc., etc. I just don't think there's a better example out there. I use the best fluids available... Amsoil in everything. Engine, transmission, steering, brake fluid, fuel additive, etc. I believe Amsoil is the best product available today. It's all I use; it's all you'll ever need. Change everything often (motor oil every 5,000 miles, transmission oil every 30,000 miles, brake and steering every two years or 30,000 miles and this EuroVan should run 'forever' Seriously. I believe the really nice EuroVans will continue to increase in value, especially the 2003 because it was the last year. I have already seen most of them increase in the past 10 years (there are not many '03 vehicles you can say that about) and it only seems to be improving. I think the crazy prices the window buses are bringing are responsible for some of that, but there is nothing like a EuroVan, especially for the money. It's modern, while looking 'old', it's safe, reliable (if you take care of them) extremely well-built and just a very 'unique' vehicle... unlike anything else. This may sound self serving, but I truly would not be worried about having as much as $25,000 (or more in the case of a camper) into the right example... That's how much I believe they will appreciate. Of course, I could be wrong? You shouldn't buy one as an investment and no, it will never be a 21 or 23 window Microbus, but it will have always have its own 'character' and that's worth owning... We'll see... And where else can you find that much fun in a Volkswagen 'Bus' these days for under $20,000? You're on the right track... Now, the new Microbus i-Buzz coming in 2022 is very exciting and I may have to make room for one of those in 4 years! I think that about covers it... if you made it all the way through, thanks for hanging in there! I am always available by phone or text or e-mail, so don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. I have another 20 or more photos of the Eurovan that could not be uploaded with the limitations of the eBay Motors site. Please let me know if there's a way to forward the additional photos to anyone interested in seeing them... In the meantime, I hope this finds you well and working through these 'interesting times'. Best of luck in your search and bidding; thanks so much for stopping by... Regards, Jim GrayJim Gray Designsjimgraydesigns.com850.509.9473

No Reserve Auction! If you use a vehicle inspection service like WeGoLook or have me take the van to the dealer for an inspection I will credit the cost back to you if you end up buying the van. 233,050 Miles. 14k miles on rebuilt engine and transmission. I am the 2nd Owner. First owner was a mom of several kids in Massachusetts. She had a ton of service done (I have the receipts). A lot of the service was tires, brakes, and required State inspections. Luckily there is not much body rust. I bought the van sight unseen on eBay from a dealer out there. It had a lot of issues not revealed by the dealer who bought it from her. I had planned on rebuilding the motor as it had 218k miles at the time so I knew it was due. It turned out that the head was cracked and not repairable. So instead I bought a German rebuilt motor from City VW in San Diego and had it installed at Cass Street Automotive. The transmission was also rebuilt at the same time with a new Transmission Control Module installed in the van. Cass Street also installed a Go Westy transmission cooler when they installed the motor. 3 full synthetic oil changes in the past 18k miles. If you don't know the Weekender, it's got the pop top with a bed and the rear bench seat also pulls out to become a bed. A table on the left side opens up and there are house lights on both sides of the rear and 3 12V DC plugs running off a separate battery. Sliding side windows have screens, and zippered windows in the top tent open for light or fresh air. My family has taken many trips in this van, including a stress free trip to Sedona in the snow. No chains needed! Has leather seats, front seat heaters (passenger disconnected for swivel seat), cruise control, remote key plus 2 more keys, the folding jump seat and passenger seat base in case you want to swap those in. The arm rests on the jump seat are both broken. I never noticed as I took it out the day I got the van. They can be replaced from any VW Eurovan seat as all the seats have arm rests. Since then I have also installed:Bilstein Sport shocks F&RNew Nokian enTyre tires in 235/60R16 with a 104 load rating with less than 5K miles. Matching alloy spare wheel with Kumho with 102 load rating. The pop top roof could use polishing and clear coat. A drunk person on a bike put a dent in the driver's door and in the body next to the door. My 3 year old son has done some damage. The leather seats aren't great. The curtains need some of the sliders replaced and a wash. The carpet has some sort of glue the previous owner spilled. I planned on installing magnets to hold the rear seat storage covers closed as the hinges were broken when I got it. I don't want to sell this van but we outgrew it. I've put over $20k into the van since I bought it 3 years ago. I am the second owner. Clear Title in hand. CarFax and more photos available on request.Sorry, emails with an offer below my asking will be ignored. Offers above my asking price will be considered. Depending on where you are I may offer to deliver the van to you. Vehicle shipping is generally $400-$800 in the Continental US. If you live near a City with a large airport I can even deliver the van to you for less than that.
