Doka - OK here are the details: · Vin: VW2ZZZ24ZLG122065 · Year 1991 · Miles: 59000km. · Imported from Lithuania in 2017 · Has 100% USA legal import papers. · Has 100% USA legal and current CT registration. · Have Lithuanian Title too. · Have copies of all import papers. · Has 1.9 tdi VW diesel installed. About 5 years ago the 1.9. This Doka was always a diesel, but had the slower non- turbo 1.6L in the past. This is the AFN engine (Golf 1996-1999, Passat 1.9 TDi 1995-1999, Audi A4 1997-1999, etc. USA Models had these, so parts easy and cheap to get.) The AFN engine is a tougher higher horse power 1.9L Tdi that is commonly put into Vanagons in the EU · Engine fully serviced and tuned up at Metro Diesel in Deep River CT less than 300 miles ago.HasHas full run vinyl sunroof --- does NOT leak. I can actually outstrip average traffic at stop lights, etc. · Fuel mileage is about 20-22mpg on highway and back roads at say 50-60 its touching 30mpg. · Full skid plates from front top rear. · Tires are 235/75-15 Brand new BFG T/A . · Truck is lifted a bit (about 1.5 inches). · Loads of stickers -- I will leave them on since some people love them. Paint freshened less than 300 miles ago. · Interior in very good shape. · Pickup bed is custom aluminum and seems to be at least 6 years old. Canopy and sides all very well made and tough as can be -- steel. Very tough really,… very field friendly. The steel could use a sand and powder coat or better yet a galvanizing. Its just fine, but has a couple rust spots that stain nearby paint a bit. I planned on hot dip galvanizing the frame, but have not gotten to it yet. I can have this done for you at the cost they charge me at CT Galvanizing. · Has new clutch and fly wheel from heavy duty VW for VR6. So I bought and imported a Westphalia syncro with the same engine, etc. So now I have something very similar (though my westy is not as powerful as the Doka - weight?....Age? Not sure.), but I can camp in it etc. Anyway this Doka is sorted, tight, and very nice to drive. I worked out all the kinks over the last 1.5 years and 800 or so miles. I will revise the Photos this week - I'm Having the Van Detailed now. One of the last real Vanagon T3 Models out there with a rear engine 4 speed Manual Westy Vanagon. Starts up everytime - very very reliable Van. Make this your ultimate Dream Westfalia or keep it as it is. Non Molested - All Original Van (only upgraded pioneer speakers) I personally drove this 2WD Westfalia across the county over 12,000 miles in 30 days - this van runs like a champ - fully serviced and maintained. Did not leak a drop of oil or burn any antifreeze - I was driving in temps in the lows of 30 degrees to highs of 127 degree weather in death Valley and the temp gauge stays right at half way - everything works 100% - The Vanagon has original AC unit in rear -Blows Cold. Heat blows Hot! - Drives up and down mountains fine with the Manual transmission - shifts all gears fine - max speed is 75 on highway cruising speed is 65 mph. Gets 20+ mpg easy on highway. Super clean inside and out - Ready to go on any trip anywhere. The heads were replaced/rebuilt along with all gaskets and oil pressure sensors while the rebuild of motor. This is the Westy you've been looking for! It's in excellent condition inside and out-- free from leaks and rust, the interior is in great condition, and the engine and transmission were rebuilt ~ 50k miles ago, so she runs like a champ. I've also made a number of upgrades over the years, all of which are included, and make this a turn-key adventure-mobile. 1990 is one of the last years that VW produced the Vanagon Westfalia, and they'd perfected the model by the end of the run, so this Full Camper is water cooled and free from the overheating issues that plagued earlier years, and even has air conditioning! I purchased this beautiful specimen 4 years ago from a guy who used to restore these vans for a living, and even he was amazed by the interior condition of this van. The original owner likely used it as a daily driver, not for camping, as the stove and camper gear are in spotless condition. Long Range ready and tested - Very rare 2 knob panel (decoupler upgrade) - I have owned and pampered a few Vanagons and Westys over the last 30 years. This Syncro is one of my favorites. Very clean and reliable. Seats, upholstery, panels and plastics are all in excelent condition. I have had the entire air conditioning system upgraded in 2018 with new compressor, hoses and GoWesty parallel flow aluminum condenser properly fitted to the TDI engine. Best A/C I have ever experienced in any Vanagon or Westy. Miami tested and absolutely approved. Dream suspension and a pleasure to drive. 15 inch wheels, big brakes. I have not done any off roading with this one (not that many mountains in Florida) but I have had zero issues with it on some long trips. Anybody that is familiar with Syncros and TDI engines knows this is the perfect match if you want the ultimate expedition vehicle with plenty of power and amazing fuel mileage. There is no other engine combination that can match it. I replaced the original carpet floor with a much nicer custom wood floor. In contrast to the original VW water boxer engines that you find on most Vanagons and provides very limited engine performance data, this modern TDI has an OBDII which allows for engine functions to be monitored. A digital scan gauge that connects to this OBDII port is a great upgrade and also goes with the van. Previous owner was a well known photographer that used it mostly for traveling to remote sites. He wanted to make sure he would always come back without mechanical issues and invested quite a bit of money to put together his dream machine to take him on each assignement. He had the engine swaped a few years ago to a low mileage TDI engine. He also had a long range auxiliary diesel fuel professionally installed. You can switch diesel fuel tanks on the fly and have a range of almost 800 miles without refueling. An assortment of lights (all work) and a 2 knob syncro decoupler gives you a choice of awd - 4wd combinations. I constantly get compliments on the condition and looks of this beauty. The body is straight and showed no damage or rust when I got it, but i decided to invest almost $5k and had it professionally painted this year to its original VW Dove Blue metallic paint. It looks awesome! I was very particular about the paint job and was at the paint shop several times a week for a month to make sure it was done right. I had no plans to sell it after all my effort and expenses (plus the intital substantial investment) but life for me has other plans. This Syncro deserves a new owner that can appreciate the love and care that has kept this rare beast looking and running this nice and enjoy it to its fullest. Is that you?
