Up for auction is a 1995 Chevrolet Caprice Classic, 9C1 Police Package. It's a documented, Ex-Beverly Hills California Police Department, undercover detective unit. Mileage is original and extremely low at 26,475. The car has had only two owners from new and obviously is from southern California. It has never seen road salt, ever. The backstory is: It was purchased new in 1995 by the Beverly Hills California Police Department and was delivered in their stereotypical two tone black and white livery, including dual spotlights. Immediately after taking delivery, it and roughly four others were sent to a reputable body shop to be sprayed a nondescript color. In this case, an unknown origin, greenish/blue color, wheels and mirrors included. It was to be used as an undercover detective car. The spotlights were also removed at this time. Paint quality is high with the door jams and trunk lid underside sprayed as well. I acquired the car in March of 2006 from a gentleman from southern California that supplied cars for movies. He purchased directly from the BHPD and decided to sell it as opposed to adding it to his supply fleet. Mileage at that time was 24,466. Upon taking delivery of the car, I immediately started to make subtle improvements to an already existing above average condition car. It has always been garaged, covered and driven sparingly, never driven in inclement weather, including snow, salt or rain. It also has been driven monthly since that time simply to circulate fluids and consume fuel to keep it fresh.With the quantity of 9C1 Caprices used by many states nationwide for law enforcement in their day, most now are clapped out, salvaged or simply have turned to dust. The AC blows cold, and with new belts, thermostat, water pump, etc. its perfectly happy here in Palm Springs on a 110-degree day. One of the reasons we like this Caprice so much is there is no evidence of paint work, I did not want to touch the bumpers because some of you want all original with grandpas patina like I do, and some will want it to be perfect and will fix the bumpers. When you are looking at the photos be sure to look at the reflection in the paint, you can see it on every panel including the hood, roof and trunk which are usually the first to go on a car that’s been sitting outside (which it is evident this car was covered or in a garage) even the leather does not have a crack let alone a rip or tare plus, both driver and passenger optional multi adjust seats work, forward, back, front up and down, back up and down, keyless entery/trunk work, the only thing that is not operational is the radio antenna which is in the upright position so the stock radio is loud and clear. If you look at the front and rear dash, perfect blue again no cracks or splitting, looks to even be the original spare which I don’t think has ever been used. You cant drive this anywhere without someone making conversation with you about the Caprice and its condition! Up for sale is my 1991 Chevy Caprice. 8 cyl, 5.0. I am the second owner buying the vehicle in 1998. Good runner. New engine put in 1998 at 90,000 miles by GM. Good shifting, never had a issue with transmission. I was keeping this to redo but I can't find the time from other projects. I have antique plates on it so inspection isn't necessary anymore. Things it will need: front end work= ball joint , tie rod. (Alignment is out, otherwise you will ruin the two new tires on front) ac recharge if you want, mirror put on windshield, engine goes through water from time to time, weird but I always had a gallon in the trunk. Vehicle is being sold as is. It's going to need some work but there aren't many of these left. I also have a 1960 Thunderbird for sale for 5000, if you need two projects.
