Here’s a neat little car with LOW miles that you don’t see every day. This one is a 2003 Honda Insight Hybrid. This is a one owner car, with no accidents on carfax, that runs and drives absolutely perfectly. This car was obviously well cared for. There’s hardly a scratch in it, and the interior still looks new as well. The tires are like new Bridegstone Potenzas, the brakes stop straight, the IMA battery is strong, and the car just plain drives brand new. There’s no excuses here. It’s only got 48k miles on it, and it honestly looks like half of that. We have driven the car about 400 miles and had zero issues. If you’re nice to these, you can get them in the upper 50’s for gas mileage. The car is actually a blast to drive – it’s got power from the moment you step on the gas. I expected it to be a slug but I was pleasantly surprised. The body is straight, all of the panels line up correctly, and the paint is as nice as the day it left Honda. The seats and carpet are in great shape with just very minor wear. The headliner is very nice other than one small spot at the “A” pillar where it looks like something rubbed it (see pics). That’s really the only spot on the car that I can pick at. It’s like a little time capsule. If you’re looking for one of these, I highly doubt you’ll find a better example. 2001 Honda Insight manual 5 speed transmission with 99,300 miles. Carfax reports no accidents and 4 owners (last owner did not drive due to dead IMA battery) ****A few of the interior shows some liquid running down the dash, I was removing the dash velcro with gum out.**** The Good- 5 month old 8amp IMA battery with 3 year warranty (transferable) 5k miles on the Bridgestone Potenza tires New Car batteryTransmission shifts excellent (no grinding into 2nd gear like other models) Clean interior Ice cold a/c Aftermarket stereo The Bad-The top paint is fading a bit (shown in photo)Previous owner was a smoker, had it cleaned but still has an odor.Some fading in the window trim (shown in photo) The rear hatch electric unlock button does not work (common in this model) but the key still worksThere are some stains shown in the photo (seats, roof liner) Clean car, comes with all orginal manuals, jack and spare. This is an original Honda Series One Insight with the 5-speed transmission. It has a CLEAN TITLE and CARFAX with no accident history. This is a rust free California car that was owned by a non-smoker. It has had 4 new tires on a short time ago and a new 12-volt accessory battery installed last month. It has good air conditioning and heating and has power windows, power door locks, AM-FM cd stereo, alloy wheels, PZEV motor, power steering, ABS brakes and more. These cars have a timing chain and not a timing belt. I just drove it from San Jose to Los Angeles last week. It gets super gas mileage of 50 to 60 mpg depending on conditions and I am not a hyper driver. I run a little larger 165 tires vs. the 155 tires so my fuel mileage is not as good as it could be but I like the ride better with the larger tires. I have driven this car for over 100,000 miles. The body is pretty straight and the interior is clean and odor free. The Hybrid battery was replaced just prior to me buying the car and has had no issues. Although the car runs well it has a few issues. One is the airbag light is on. Most likely the seat belt connector as I was told. The weak point in this particular car is the transmission. A couple of synchros are not good and it can pop out of third gear upon deceleration. I have a lower mileage replacement transmission I will include. I drive it easy and have gotten by fine but to really be correct you should change out the transmission and install a new clutch pack. People do the K-20 motor/trans swap and turn these aluminum bodied gas savers into crazy fast cars but I enjoyed it the way it was originally built. These cars were way ahead of their time. They were very limited production and cost Honda many times their retail price to build them as Honda was after the best gas mileage crown and held it for many years with the Insight.
