I have decided to sell my backup car which is a 2004.5 Volvo S40 2.4i. I bought this car a few years ago, but basically never drove it because of family issues. It has a few imperfections but it's a great car. My wife has been getting on my back to sell this car so to keep the peace I need to let it go. Its a 2004.5 new style as that is when they redesigned the car. It has a 2.4 liter engine and has less than 86,000 miles. Below is a list of all the good thingsThis car had a lot of work done and this will save you money if you are looking to buy a Volvo S40 from someone else who did not have the work done or does not know if it's been completed.Below is a list of all the work that was completed within the last year. If you price this from a dealer or a mechanic, you will see that the price I am asking for the car is very reasonable as the below repairs would cost well over $2500 by a dealer.4 brand new tires installed. Tires were $452 plus tax and installation Headline was recovered as the headliner is prone to fall off on all of these cars. Headliner or interior shop will charge about $500 minimum for this to be done. If the car you are looking at did not have the headliner repaired, most likely it will need to. New Timing belt installed. This should be replaced every 100k miles. New Alternator accessory belt installed. New A/C accessory belt installed. New Alternator Drive belt tensioner. New A/C Drive belt tensioner. New spark plugs. New right side engine mount. These tend to go out before the car hits 100K. I found out that the original was still good after I changed it so I guess it was preventative maintenance. New tie rods as one was going out, so I replaced both. One rear bearing that was loud. New battery as well.The good about the car, Volvos are safe Low miles at 86,000 Lots of work completed like timing belt which can cost quite a bit if done at the dealer or mechanic New tires No rustThe bad about the car. Look at pictures of this. Paint is good, but I would recommend buffing the car because it's been in storage for so long. Has some scuffs and scratches on the paint (It's a used car after all).Small dent on rear passenger door,Small dent between front left fender and front door.rear left side window does not roll down, so not sure if it's the motor or regulator, but should be an easy fixSome scuffs and scratches on the bumpers.
